theres the link....long story =)

bc/ we differentiate between hot dogs and sausages. hot dogs don't have the spicy wazoos that sausage has so we call them by a different name.

Becuz they're not really sausages, but rather more like tubular bologna. You can buy sausages here, such as Italian sweet sausage or hot sausage, and they definitely are not hot dogs, LOL.

They're not. Hot dogs and sausages are two different things. Hot dogs are not as spicy as sausages, or are of the same consistancy.

"Hot dogs" has always been a nickname for "franks", usually served at ballparks or other events.

Sausages come several ways here, both link and patties, and are usually served as breakfast foods, although sausage, peppers and onions, grilled, served on a bun is also popular.

Two different critters... hot dogs, and sausages.

The story is that they were called "hot dachsunds", but it was shortened to hot dogs

Because they were "frankfurters" until World War I, when Americans tried to get rid of everything German-sounding. Frankfurters became hot dogs, and hamburgers became "liberty sandwiches" (that one didn't stick). If you think that sounds ridiculous, just remember a couple of years back when Americans were angry at the French for not supporting the Iraq war and tried to change French fries to "liberty fries." Sometimes hotdogs are still called "franks," which is short for frankfurter and sounds more all-American.

I don't know if it has anything to do with the ol' song Hot Dogs and Apple Pie. They're an American tradition and part of the song.....Just a thought

hot dogs are not sausage .they just look like it....real sausage taste different
