worked in steak restaurants

This is going to sound really weird, but a friend of mine marinates his steak in Pepsi and swears up and down it's the best steak marinade on the planet.

italian dressing, not the creamy kind. Or a nice greek style vinegrette

McCormicks Chipotle marinade is the best...I won't use anything else. Has a slight kick to it, and it makes your steak tender.

very simple. seasoned salt and seasoned pepper. marinades take away from the flavor of the meat. use the two spices and you'll get a nice crust on the meat plus you'll sear in all those juices. ENJOY!!!

olive oil, s & p, garlic, garlic, garlic, and mix in some worchestire or hot sauce or BBQ sauce or whatever flavor you like.

fresh garlic!

By far my favorite is Ken's Steakhouse 3 cheese Italian dressing and crushed garlic - maybe with a little white wine mixed in.

First off...if you're buying a great cut, you won't NEED a marinade! Just some sea salt and peper and you're DONE.

So now....if you're buying something a little less than amazing and need some extra flavor and tenderizing, here are some marinade ideas.

If you want REALLY easy...just use bottled Italian salad dressing!

If you want to be more creative, try a dry rub (either pre made or make your own) using your own combination of salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, celery salt, etc. (whatever you like).

OR if you want a true marinade....do what I do and empty your condiment rack into a ziploc bag (worcestershire, dijon mustard, soy sauce). It's your own creation, so use what flavors you like and be creative!

The MOST important thing with steak is DO NOT overcook it! If you're going to cook it anything past medium rare/medium...get chicken instead!!! I find the magic formula of about 3.5 minutes per side on a medium high grill works perfectly every time if you're doing a nice NY Strip just about an inch thick.

Good luck!

I agree with the first answer. I've heard from the best... that coke or pepsi is the best marinade. It makes the meat super tender.

Rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, chili flake, fresh black pepper and onions that have been sweated (pan cooked over low heat to bring out the sugars), kosher or sea salt, and a nice dose of cavenders (a delicious Greek seasoning) makes an awesome marinade. Just make sure to remove any excess garlic pieces from meat before grilling, as burnt garlic is very bitter and will ruin the flavor that you've worked to achieve.

i have a couple we use:
But dont mix only choose one of the following:
*italian & red wine vigerette dressings
or
*A1 steak sauce
or
*baja lime chipolta marinade (kraft)
or
*Fry peppers, onions, and garlic
or
*montreal steak seasoning(slt pepper and some other seasonings already mixed)

if you dont like any of these you can go on

and find recipes for steaks that you might like better!!good luck

I like to get the Kosher salt and mix it with cayenne pepper, cracked black pepper, rosemary, oregano, garlic powder and use this as a rub. But first theres the marinade. To make things easy...I use V8 brand tomatoe juice with a few fresh onions (large rough cut) and after mixing the Rub mentioned before with some olive oil, put your meat into the v8 to marinade. Regular marinating procedures after that...up to the next day in the refrig or at the least 3-4 hours. Enjoy some really tender steaks with this one!

i use meat tenderizer,liquid smoke(just a little) pepper

Montreal Steak Seasoning with olive oil and a little soy sauce - unbelievable.

Or, just do salt (Kosher preferred), pepper (freshly ground preferred) and some garlic powder.

dale's seasoning sauce and the great thing about it is you don't have to marinate over night just 30 min in the fridge it is a little salty but it is soo good with red meats or chicken and before i cook the meat i add a little rosemary thyme and fresh cracked pepper so simple and wonderful
