Ge a HUGE pot, put everything except the Fish Fingers, the Bananas and the bread in it, add water, a little Olive oil, some white wine-- a tad, and let it simmer for a few hours.
Get the bread and the bananas and get some vanilla pudding and make banana bread pudding.
And please, oh please, don't make her fish fingers for a 3 year anniversary!
Lentilles à la Proven?ale (Lentils in Red Wine):
1 1/2 cups (340gr) Puy lentils, if unavailable use common lentils
3/4 cup (180gr) chopped carrots
2 stalks of celery finely sliced
1 large onion sliced
2 cloves of garlic chopped
3 cups (24oz) chicken broth
1/2 cup (4oz) red wine
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons tomato paste
bouquet garni (1 bay leaf, 2 twigs of thyme, parsley, winter savory)
salt and pepper
Napoli Salami
Preparation:
If possible soak lentils overnight in water, otherwise you need to cook them a bit longer.
Heat olive oil and sautè salami, onion, garlic, carrots and celery, until onion is lightly colored.
Add bouquet garni, chicken broth, wine and tomato paste and bring it to a quick boil, stirring to dissolve the tomato paste. Reduce heat to a simmer.
Drain lentils and add them to the pot with the chicken broth - wine mixture.
Cover and simmer for 45 - 60 min. depending on the lentils. Stir it once in a while and ad water if it begins to dry out.
Taste for salt and pepper before serving. Do not overcook the lentils. Puy lentils should still have a bite.
A dash of red wine vinegar is optional. You can add it to the pot or leave it up to each guest to add a dash at the table.
Risotto with Tomatoes, Corn & Basil
INGREDIENTS
2 1/2 cups water
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup minced onion
1 clove garlic, minced
3/4 cup uncooked Arborio rice
3 tablespoons white wine
1 medium tomato - peeled, seeded and chopped
1 1/3 cups fresh corn kernels
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, cut into thin strips
1/2 teaspoon salt
ground black pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
Combine the water and milk in a medium size pot or saucepan, heat the water and milk to a simmer. Keep the pan over low heat.
Melt the butter in a large casserole or skillet over medium high heat. Add the onion and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the garlic and the rice, stir constantly for 1 minute. Add the white wine and stir until completely absorbed.
Begin to add the heated milk-water mixture 1/2 cup at a time, stirring frequently. Wait until each addition is almost completely absorbed before adding the next. When the rice has cooked for 15 minutes and most of the liquid has been incorporated, add the corn kernels and tomatoes along with the end of the milk-water mixture. Cook, stirring frequently, until the rice is tender but still slightly chewy.
The risotto should take 18 to 20 minutes of cooking all together. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, most of the basil, and the salt and pepper. Spoon the risotto immediately onto plates, top with the remaining basil strands, and serve.
Substitute anything you want that you have for the ingredients I listed. Use your peppers instead of carrots, for example!
GOOD LUCK!!!!
Curried basmati with garlic and garbanzos is awesome. It sounds odd, but make enchiladas with what you have. Fry up some tortillas to go with the salsa. Do you have any vinegar? Toast up the bread and serve it with vinegar and oil for an appetizer too.
I would make lentils and rice with garlic and onions and Indian spices.
Also fried corn with sweet peppers
You can also peel the bananas and slice them longways. Then sprinkle a little sugar on them and bake them in the oven for 10-15 minutes until they are golden brown.
If you have any vinegar- rinse the chickpeas and add a little vinegar and olive oil along with some onions and red peppers and chopped basil
You could also make a risotto with the arborio rice, onions, garlic, peppers, and tomatoes. Add the fresh basil at the end.
Ok,
This was rather fun.....
You can make your gf....

First course: puree the chickpeas, add a dash of tabasco, some garlic, and a drop or two of worcester, spead it on the bread. Second course, basmati rice, indian seasoning, chopped tomatoes, top with fresh basil. Dessert: halve your bananas, drizzle with the honey, put under the broiler to carmelize.
