How Do You Cook Sardines?
Answers:
Why would you need to, you eat them right out of the can
Poach and eat on toast with tomato sauce for breakfast.
Recently I had fresh sardines with all the bones left in them. Would recommend if thats what you got, take the bones out by yanking at the spine, cause they were awful.
If youmean fresh sardines, then grilled or even better on the barbie. I like to marinate them in olive oil with loads of garlic and basil and then grind some rocksalt on when cooking. mmmmm.
any number of ways. you can saute them, grill them (put a bunch on two skewers so they stay on the grill), fry them, bake them, roast them, etc.
Fried Sardines:
Olive oil
6 whole, fresh sardines
Salt and black pepper
All-purpose flour
Parsley leaves, chopped, for garnish
Lemon wedges
*Heat the oil in a shallow pan.
*Season the sardines with salt and pepper. Then, dredge them in the flour, shaking off the excess and place them in the hot oil to fry.
*Turn the sardines over with tongs and fry on the other side.
*Drain on paper towels. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges
If you are talking about fresh: then you need to fillet them, take off the scales and cut off the fins.
Cook them as they are on a barbecue or under the grill they don't need messing around with they are great as they are.
When you eat them you need to be care full of bones.
Wrap in tin foil and BBQ them.

How about in a curry!! Assuming you like curry or spicy dishes.
Put in a bit of oil
Then add chopped onion
Then some curry powder bout 2 heaped tsp
add chopped tomato
crushed ginger and garlic 11/2 tsp
then wait for onion to get clear and cooked a bit then add your sardines and a little bit of water and cook for about 5minutes with lid closed.
Voila!! Curried Sardine
You could fry them or grill them
The grill very well - about 3 - 4 minutes on each side. Just slash the skin a couple of times so you do not have it shrinking and bending the fish. They also bake very well - but | prefer the grilling method. You can season them with whatever you will or just sea-salt and lemon juice.
they dont need a lot of cooking and you pop them in the oven with a drizzle of olive olive and lemon juice or they are great done on the BBQ
Tinned sardines are delicious eaten cold. I like them on toast with black pepper on..... also delicious on a sandwich with salad. If you don't like them cold just warm up slightly either under the grill or in the microwave. They are quite nutritional. Don't worry about bones as they are so soft you can't tell they're there.
spread sardines on two slices of buttered toast put onto grill pan and back under grill untill warmed right thru onto plate and eat before anyone else gets a look in
right out of the tin on Toast. I like it cold but my boyfriend likes them to be grilled.
