Brown rice recipe??
any suggestions on what to put in my brown rice? I'm cooking it over stove top tonight and I am in need of some spice ideas... or anything to give it some good flavor.

here's a recipe that i've made many times, it's so good..
Cilantro Lime Rice
3 cups cooked brown rice
1 teaspoon lime zest, minced
1-2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2-3 tablespoons cilantro, finely minced
Toss lime zest, lime juice, and cilantro with the cooked rice.
use someo of the flavoring you get in those top ramen packs
I have also switched to brown r ice. At first my family didn't like it. What I do now is saute some chopped onions and garlic in a little olive oil. When the onions are tender I add the rice and instead of water I use chicken or beef broth. When its done, add a little salt and pepper and light whipped butter. It is really delicious.
SMOKED SAUSAGE AND BROWN RICE
1 lb. smoked sausage
1 box wild brown rice
1 sm. can mushrooms
1 green bell pepper
1 sm. onion
Dash of garlic powder
Dash of crushed red pepper (optional)
Mozzarella cheese
Dice mushrooms, bell pepper and onion. Saute in frying pan with garlic and red pepper. Slice smoked sausage into bite size pieces. Combine with vegetable mixture. Cook together for 10 minutes on simmer. Cook rice according to directions. Combine all ingredients together and cover with cheese.
BROCCOLI AND BROWN RICE SKILLET DINNER
1 skinless, boneless chicken breast, diced
1/2 tsp. minced garlic
1 1/2 c. no-added-salt chicken broth
1 small head of broccoli, broken into florets
1 red pepper, cut into thin strips
1 yellow squash, sliced thin
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 1/2 c. instant brown rice, dry
1 oz. freshly grated parmesan cheese
In a deep skillet, heat chicken, garlic, broth, broccoli, red pepper and squash to boiling.
Stir in pepper and brown rice, and reduce heat to a simmer.
Simmer uncovered for 5 minutes. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top and serve.
BROWN RICE STUFFING
1 1/2 c. uncooked brown rice
2 c. chopped celery
1 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. butter, melted
2 (4 oz.) cans chopped mushrooms, undrained
1/2 - 1 tsp. dried summer savory
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. sweet basil
1/2 c. vegetable chicken broth
Cook rice as directed on package. Cook celery and onion in butter until done but not browned. Add to rice along with mushrooms, seasonings and broth. Bake one hour. Makes 1 1/2 quarts dressing.
I will often add Curry and Turmeric
