Question about Coolwhip?!

Question:

Question about Coolwhip?

I know that coolwhip can be used as frosting - but for a cake?

Do you have any tips to help keep the coolwhip "frosting" fresh without ruining the cake? Should any other ingredients be added to it the coolwhip?

Answers:
You will have to keep it refridgerated, or it will go soft and run off. It looks nice and light and fluffy on cakes with fruit.

Nope just keep the cake in the fridge

I suggest using dreamwhip instead.... it works better and tastes a whole lot better!

Frreze it after icing then it will last longer when you serve it. Once it gets to room temperature it's gonna melt. It does make a great low fat frosting that is much lighter than buttercream frosting.

My mom always mixes the coolwhip with jello pudding mix and milk, then puts it in the fridge to set. Once you put it on the cake, you have to make sure that the cake goes back into the fridge so your frosting doesnt start to "melt" so to speak.

Here is a link to a recipe that looks like what my mom does:

OOOH ya! I've read read recipes that uses Cool Whip

Keep cake in refrig. with a cake dome over it to prevent it from getting smushed.

you can add 1 tsp of vanilla to it or some cinnamon and frost cakes with it or use to dollop pies or fresh fruit

Goto Kraftfoods.com , they have cake recipies w/ cool whip frostings... I just made a strawberry marble cake and the cool whip had a bit of sour cream added to it to give it a little more body.... The web site is great....Hope that help and good luck with your cake!!!
