What is the best way to store a half used onion?!

Question:

What is the best way to store a half used onion?

Answers:
Go ahead and chop it and stick it in a ziploc bag to put in the freezer. Next time you have a need, just pour it right in!

By freezing it, you won't run the risk of other foods in your fridge absorbing the onion flavor (bad story about onion flavored shortbread from when i sat a ziplock bag with onion on top of my box of butter....).
I do this with entire bags of onions. Cuts down on prep time and tears!

in a fully sealed airtight container in the fridge

put it in a zip-lock bag

toss in the freezer in a ziploc bag- i will chop whatever veg. i don't use and freeze it- that way, when i need a little bit later, it's ready to go (esp. since i am cooking for one or two...)

cuts on time AND waste!

I very lightly spray the cut half with cooking spray and toss into a ziplock bag. The oil is light, and it keeps the cut side fresher longer, keeps air out, and also helps lock the onion fumes in!

wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge to keep it cold. make sure the plastic wrap is tight so no air gets inside. otherwise it will dry out.

keep the skin of the oignon on then wrap it up with some food film or put it in a ziplock bag

My grandmother, mother, and I always wrap it up in a little aluminum foil. Easy. Works. Keeps for about a week before it starts to dry out.

How long do you want to keep it??? If you plan to use it as a fresh onion later, store it in an air tight container. Ziplock sandwich bag with air squeesed out or some other air tight container and put in the frig..
If you freeze it it will hold for a lot longer , however it will not keep its crisp fresh state. It will work great for cooking.

If your going to use the rest of it soon, like in a week or so time, I found it best that you could put it in a ziplock bag and put in the fridge. I don't know much about the freezer cause I've never done that, but I hope that this helps you.

Coat the cut part with soft butter or marge and wrap in a piece of kitchen paper towel. Store in the egg tray of the fridge.lol
