How do you do a charcoal grill?
ok, this may sound like a really stupid question, but I have never set up a charcoal grill. We're planning a barbeque at a park tomorrow and I'll be cooking on the grills there. What are the steps to set up a charcoal grill?

Pile up your charcoal into a tight heap in teh center of the bottom of the grill (lift grill itself off, or see if you can lean it up and back out of the way). Light w/ lighter fluid, if needed. Let soak recommended time, then light. Let burn recommended time (read on bag). When whitish, spread coals out evenly. Or, if you want them hotter in one sectin, spread them thicker on one side, thinner on another. Replace grill. Let it get good and hot, then scrub w/ grill brush or soap-free brillo pads held by tongs. Oil grill w/ a rag dipped in oil held by tongs. Then slap your meat on there and enjoy your cookout!
Buy Matchlight charcoal to make lighting easier.You don't need any charcoal fluid because it is already in the charcoal.Let the coals get hot and white for cooking.It would also be a good idea to get a meat thermometer to make sure your meat is cooked all the way and done inside out.Also have fun at the park.
For charcoal grills spread your briquettes on the bottom grate so they cover the area you want to cook on and then add another layer of briquettes and push them into a mound or pile. You have a choice of what type of briquette to use for your grill. You may use charcoal that is already loaded with starting fluid or you may use the type that requires you to add the starter fluid. You may also purchase charcoal that is flavored to give your food a special taste.
Once you have decided on the type of charcoal and have them piled in your grill light them and leave the cover off until the flames go down and the charcoal briquettes turn an ashy color. Once this happens you take a tong and spread the briquettes back out, put the cooking grate on and begin cooking.

lol...first you need a grill.
get a good charcoal (I prefer matchlight), make sure you have charcoal lighting fluid, soak the charcoal with the lighting fluid, then light it with a match. Once the coals start turning white, you are ready to put your meat on the grill.
Oh, I always cover my grill rack with heavy duty foil.

Stack your charcoal in a pyramid shape before you light it. that way it will all burn evenly. Then when your coals stop flaming and are COMPLETELY white, use tongs or a stick or something to spread them evenly. Put your grill on, throw on the meat and have a beer!!
place the charcoal bricks in a pilein the center, like a small hill. Depending on how much meat your cooking and for how long,your goingto need about 1/2 to 1/4 of the bag.
open the vent under the grill.
douse the bricks with lighter fluid..make sure all the bricks get some.wait aminute or two till they have absorbed the fluid.
then light...light in the back first then the front...ido like 3 spots.
the coals are ready for cooking when most have turned white and there is a glowing fire within the pile.
knock the pile down so its all even...place grate on top..not to close to the fire, or they will be burnet to a crisp.
