Anyone have a good slow cooker recipe?!

Question:

Anyone have a good slow cooker recipe?

Answers:
i made an excellent minestrone soup the other day (my first recipe in my new crock pot- took 10 minutes to assemble and was amazing!)

2 carrots, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
1/2-1 onion, sliced (depends how much you want)
1/2 tsp garlic
2 cups chicken stock
2 bay leaves
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp sage
1 48-oz can diced tomatoes

salt and pepper to taste.

throw in crock pot, leave for 6-8 hours.

add:
precooked ditallina pasta (but i used wagon wheel pasta- just as good)
2 cups spinach (fresh or frozen- chopped)
frozen meatballs- i added like six, but the more the merrier
**add these 30 minutes before serving.

excellent, light minestrone soup, could NOT have been easier.

plus, it's healthier than a lot of soups since there is no oil in it.

I do if you like red meat.

Cube a couple pounds of stew beef
2 cans of low sodium cream of mushroom soup
3/4 soup can of red cooking wine
1 package dry Lipton Onion Soup mix

combine all in the crock pot with one can of water, and cook on low all day long. It can be stirred once in a while, or not, and it will be fine.

when you are ready to serve it, cook up some egg noodles and spoon the mixture over it.

Get a roast and put it in the cooker in the morning with some water and veggies.....Let it take all day and it will be wonderful.....

Lasagna... everyone has a "famous" lasagna recipe in their family... just ask your mom and dad, or other family.

white rice with some chicken broth (not to make it suop, but to give it a chicken flavor-so dont drown the rice) and garlic pieces

Italian Beef
1 lean roast/fat trimmed
1 cup water
1 pkg. Good Seasons Italian Dressing mix
1 pkg. Zesty Italian dressing mix

Night before, put water and dressing mixes in crockpot. Mix well. Put roast on top and go to bed. Next morning, shred meat with 2 forks. Continue cooking on low until serving time. Serve on Sub buns or Cuban rolls if you can find them. Garnish with pepperonchini, jalapeno peppers or dill pickle spear.
This was my best seller when I owned a sandwich shop.

take any type of meat or poultry you like and season it with seasoned salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. put it in your crockpot.
open up a can of cream of mushroom soup and put that in the pot too, along with a half can of water, a dash of dried thyme, and some veggies. (baby carrots, onions, peppers, and potatoes)
you set your pot on low and let it cook for 6-8 hours.

or you could use broth instead of creamed soup. you could use this recipe for all of your meat and poultry recipes.

These are all very good suggestions especially the minestrone! However, if I am doing a roast, bottom, top round, rump but not a shoulder roast (The shoulder roast does not cook well in a slow cooker.) I brown off the roast first in a cast iron skillet with evoo (extra virgin olive oil), all around. Then add your veggies and the lid and let it cook for at least 8 hours.

Layered Potato Stew

Vegetables:

* 8-10 potatoes - sliced

* 2 carrots - sliced
* Whatever vegetables you want, some ideas: Green beans, Cauliflower, Corn, Peas

You can add a mixed bag of frozen vegetables for easy preparation.

* 3 cups canned chopped tomatoes or 2 cups + 1 cup tomato sauce - flexible on what tomato product you want to use
* 1/4 cup soysauce

Layer the vegetables in crockpot in order given. Mix together ingredients for sauce and pour over vegetables. Cook on high for 6 hours or low for 10-12 hours.

Soo many recipes, soo little time!

I put a pork roast in the crock pot, add 1/2 white wine, 1/2 water, enough to cover roast halfway, then sprinkle Mrs Dash table blend on top. Cover and slow cook for 8 hrs.

Great flavor, this is the most moist and tender pork I've had!

Some additions I've added are crushed rosemary, minced garlic. Use your imagination and experiment!

The pot roast recipe is great too! I use a 3 lb chuck roast, 1 can golden mushroom soup on top, then sprinkle onion soup (dry) mix on top. Cover and cook on low for 7-9 hrs. Makes it own gravy.

My mom makes this alot. Put 4 cube/minute steaks in crockpot. Add 2 cans of golden mushroom soup, 1 can mushrooms, pcs and stems along with juice. I added some instant minced onion. Cover and cook 7 hrs on low. Makes gravy that is good on noodles or mashed potatoes.

Happy cooking!
