Home made lasagne in fridge for 4 days covered?!
Home made lasagne in fridge for 4 days covered?
made it & cooked it on tuesday & didn't end up reheating it, covered in foil once cooled & put in fridge, can we reheat it for dinner tonight or tomorrow or is it to late?
Answers:
give it a sniff and see if it's gone off. when reheating you should get a fairly good idea if somethings gone stale
tonight but after that throw it out
its like a fine wine, It just gets better with time
Lasagna has tomato sauce in it. Tomato sauce is a natural preservative. It should be safe.
yeah, it should be ok if it doesnt smell
i must warn you though
you shouldnt put foil in the fridge - it can taint food and aluminum can get into the food which is bad
use a plate to cover your lasagne next time
I'd say toss it. Anything past 2 days is questionable
Yes this will be fine, but make sure you do re-heat thoroughly, depending on the size, I recommend 30-40mins at 180 oC
from your info ...enjoy it tonight....it will keep in a fridge , thats what a fridge is for ,
It is too late to be safe make a new one.
give it the smell test - meat may be off
next time - cut it into individual serving portions & wrap & freeze each portion - great to microwave for lunches
not an expert ,but iam glad iam not coming to yours for tea? get it slung in the bin?
Lasagne usually keeps for about a week in the fridge if wrapped properly, sometimes longer, sometimes not. Just give it a whiff to see if it's still good, because like the old saying says... the nose knows.
In my fridge, that would not be a problem.
If you are reheating in a conventional oven, it might dry out a bit and not get very warm in the middle. I would give it a burst in the microwave too, just to nuke the centre some more.
EAT IT TONIGHT AND REHEAT THOROUGHLY. LASAGNE SAUCE GETS TASTIER WITH A LITTLE TIME. YUM, ENJOY.....MAY ALSO HAVE LASAGNE 2NITE!!!
I would eat it no worries ~~
its fine but i would put saran wrap under the foil. the acid in the sauce will eat through the foil happy eating!
It will taste even better.
yes you can but don't keep any longer than tonight
Yeah I think that'll be OK although I would be paranoid and probably nuke the poor thing to death out of fear of food poisoning.
Bacteria multiply in food, and they are killed by higher temps.
But dont forget while they are there they can release chemicals that are not destroyed by the high cooking temperatures, so I think tonight is your last chance really.
I would not eat it, meat is not always good when its reheated.
Sure! Just eat it within 4 days or you can cut it into pieces, wrap in heavy duty foil and place in a zip-loc freezer bag. That's what I do. Then you can either thaw on the counter or thaw in the fridge for a day and a half and microwave or reheat in the oven. That way it is portion controlled and convenient.
EAT MY DEAR DONT WORRY!!!
the worse that can happen is a visit to your toilet!
lasagna especailly homemade is always good, maybe just add a bit of tomato sauce to make it less dry.
If it has been kept in the fridge since you made it, it will keep for 1 week. When you reheat it make sure it is heated through thoroughly before you eat it.
I would definitely;y do it tonight and it should be fine
Reheat for dinner ,but with reservations, fresh smelling can go to the table, the slightest doubt & it gets dumped.
Yes it will be fine, ive had lasagna in fridge for 8 days and it was great, some of these peoples comments make me laugh, no idea! Enjoy your dinner wish i was coming
as my dear departed Dad told me "when in doubt throw it out" he was a wise man.
you might be running to the toilet if you eat it
Yes it will be fine. It will only improve with time, but i would only give it another day. Make sure when its reheated it's very very hot all the way through to the middle.
I assume it is bacteria rather than taste you are worried about!
No one can say one way or the other from your description as it depends upon so many factors, only science can make that determination but as a general rule:
1 storage: if yout fridge is at the correct temperature range (0-5degrees C) Personally I dont want my fridge freezing leep it at 3 then it will keep a chilled cooked meat product pretty well for 3 days. Again commercial standards are stricter than domestic ones as you will be more used to the way you do things and so will your tum!
2 Amount of bugs in the chilled product to start with. This is the thing that might be in a domestic kitchen the leading factor, the longer the food was warm and cooling the more time there would have been for bacteria to thrive, they love warm moist atmosphere with a food source, hmmm cooling lasagne yum yum !!
If you got it chilled relatively quickly and then into the fridge all well and good, if it was a long slow cool down - as is typical on a hot day in a domestic kitchen where it is " just left to cool"
Now the good news, bacteria is killed at and above 65 degrees, this is why so many chilled products say serve piping hot! I would personally not microwave the reheated meal but heat it and hold it at temperature for as long as you can get away with with out ruining the pasta, and turning the bechamel into rubber.
So while its not possible to say yes eat it, I would say that if you have keprt it well and it smells ok and you reheat it well you should be fine, just dont sell it and poisen anyone!
Hope it tastes fab, add a desert spoon of water to create a bit of steam to prevent it drying out and as long as it cant make its own way to the oven I would be leating it !
