What's a good substitute for heavy cream?!

Question:

What's a good substitute for heavy cream?

I'm making an alfredo sauce!

Answers:
Try using whole milk, or 2% if you got it. For every two cups of milk you use, add 2 tablespoons of flour, adding 1 tablespoon at a time, while simmering on medium heat. Hope this helps

Myself

Creme fraiche

I used Half and Half, it turned out pretty good although it wasn not as savory that in i had used heav cream

Good Luck

You can use Parmesean cheese, evaporated milk and butter and to thicken it more you can make use a small mixture of four and milk and add that to your sauce, stirring constantly.

The lighter the dairy ,the thinner the sauce. You can sub half and half, table cream, etc

lighter cream?

whipping cream, half & half, if you reduce it till it's thicker, or make a bechamel with milk: Combine 1 part flour with 1 part melted butter or oil and cook slightly (making a pale roux), then add the desired amount of milk and bring to a boil to thicken. Add the milk slowly and fully incorporate with the roux until you reach the desired consistency.

Evaporated milk is the best substitute. You can probably get away with half and half, also.

go to the store & get a half/half

I assume you are using an American cookery book. In the UK, the equivalent of heavy cream is double cream.

try cream fresh
