Kumkuats???!

Question:

Kumkuats???

I have a Kumkuat tree in my backyard and I don't know what to use them for. I saw them in a grocery store and they were pretty expensive so I guess they are useful...but for what?

Answers:
kumquats are great just eaten off the tree! but...

The kumquat is not of the genus citrus but is a close relative. It belongs to the genus fortunella.

Kumquats are delicious seared on one side. Cut them in half and dip in fine sugar, then let them sizzle away for a minute or so in a hot pan so that the sugar forms a crust. Then when you bite into the fruit there is a crunch, and then a burst of molten kumquaty goodness. These are great over ice cream.

There are many other ways to prepare kumquats... go to the link below under sources... hope this helps
