Bbq chicken legs cook time?!

Question:

Bbq chicken legs cook time?

Answers:
BBQ Chicken legs are tricky to cook because the skin can burn easily, creating the illusion that your food may be done, when in fact it is far from. I suggest a medium low heat, in the medium hottest section of your grill.

If your using a gas grill with 1 burner, that would be in the back of the grill. A gas grill with 2 burners running horizontal, put the front one on medium, the back on on low and cook over the back burner. A gas grill with 3 burners running horizontal, the front on high and the back two on low, and cook over the back burners. A gas grill with 2 burners running vertical, cook the chicken over low on one side, and have the other side on high, and etc. The low, direct heat will server to cook the skin and about half of the meat, while the hot indirect heat, when the lid is kept closed, will help heat the bone from the inside, cooking the other half of the meat all the way through.

If using a charcoal grill, please use a circular one as these direct heat better. You'll want the chicken in a circle about 6 inches across, keeping it away from the hottest part of the grill in the center, using another indirect/direct heating method.

All of these methods should give you about a 25 minute cooking time. You want the internal temperature to be 165 with chicken.

Also, save the BBQ sauce for about the last 4 minutes, as it can burn too much and give you a bad indication of the actual doneness of the legs.

Happy Memorial Day!

It varies depending on what type of grill (gas vs charcoal) you use. Check out this site, is should have the info you want.

on the grill about 40 min. in the oven 1 hour at 425 degree's

i usually simmer chicken legs in water on the stove for 1/2 an hour or so. I let them cool then marinade the in the bbq sauce for a couple of hours. I put them on the bbq to brown them. If I decide not to simmer them, I cook them on the top rack of the bbq for about 30 minutes or so then move them to the bottom rack, brown them, coat them with sauce & cook til the sauce browns abit

If you bake them, it takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Grilling will take much longer, and I don't prefer it because the chicken isn't as juicy, tender and flavorful as when you bake it. Besides, when you bake it you don't have to worry about basting. Just pour the sauce over the chicken in a shallow pan and bake, turning once halfway through. So delicious.
