Substitute for orange zest?!

Question:

Substitute for orange zest?

what can i use as a substitute for 2 tablespoons of orange zest?

Answers:
You can use lemon zest if you don't mind that whatever you're cooking will taste like lemon instead of orange. You could also use an orange liquor. However, I don't know if you would use equal amounts or not.

Lemon zest.

You really can't ... the dry texture of the orange zest and the essential oils are going to be impossible to replace. If you absolutly have no oranges, you can heat a half cup of orange juice in a pan for a half hour until it becomes a syrup consistency for the concentrated taste ... but I really suggest the zest.

it sounds odd, but orange kool-aid would work

if you don't have an orange handy, you can use lemon or lime zest...different flavors, but still same concept. Next choice would be orange flavoring (extract)....if desperate, you could use Grand Marneir or other orange liquor (triple sec)

maybe lemon zest or lime zest or i would think any citrus zest...
