This is our family favorite.

S.O.S (Sh*t on the Shingle)
4 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. flour
4 cups of milk
pepper to taste
8 oz jar of dried beef (my mom rinses it, takes away the saltiness) (sometimes she adds two jars)
1/2 pound of hamburger cooked and drained (optional)
Melt butter in large skillet over low heat. Whisk in flour to form a roux. Whisk in milk, a little at a time, increase heat to med-high and cook stirring, until thickened. Bring to a boil, stir in chipped beef , hamburger (optional) and seasoning, heat through and serve over toast or rice or even a baked potato.

Stuffed turkey shells

This is from Guyana: Cook-Up Rice

This is made with rice (of course), beans (a variety is better), meat (a variety as well - cubed), fresh herbs and this is all cooked in coconut milk. My fav and my family just loves it.

Don't know if this would be old fashion or not, but it's a favorite:

Cowboy Stew

1lb. Browned Hamburger
1 pk. Lil' Smokies (cut in halves)
2 cans Rotel Tomatoes
2 cans Ranch style beans w/ Jalepenos
2 cans Ministrone soup
2 soup cans of water

Bring to a boil and serve. Best on cold days, served with some cornbread or crackers.

Cheese straws!

They are a bit spicy and almost like a cookie texture shaped liked a cracker. Very good.. they only make appearances around the holidays.

Corn chowder. I think every one of my aunt's and my mom has a different variation of my grandma's recipe and they are all so good. We have it every Christmas Eve.
