Can you use Olive Oil to bake with?!

Question:

Can you use Olive Oil to bake with?

I am trying to be healthy and wanted to know if I could use Olive Oil instead of Veg. Oil? I know I could use apple sauce.. but, I don't have any.

Answers:
Olive oil can be substituted in recipes like basic white or wheat bread, anything with savory herbs, some kinds of pie crust and biscuits. However, olive oil adds an olive flavor to most baked goods, so I would avoid using it for sweet breads like donuts, cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes, cookies, brownies or banana bread. If you want to eat healthy with these kinds of recipes, use a light canola instead.

Go out on the internet and do a search on Olive Oil Baking Recipes, I bet you would find something there :)

yes

yes, you can use olive oil to bake with. it will make what you are baking rich and moist.

You can use olive oil in just about anything you want to make. But you can't use it in place of veg. oil in cakes or brownies, or any thing like that. Olive oil is good for you. If you don't want to use veg. oil, then apple sauce is great, too.

Sure!!! Oil is oil is oil......just dont use Hair Oil!!!

I didn't know that you could use anything else.

You can bake with it.
Most people do not like the flavor in baked goods.

You can use olive oil, but 'extra virgin' and 'virgin' taste too much like olives. The 'light' or 'extra light' ones are recommended. If you Google search 'baking with olive oil' there's several articles about it.

Good luck with it. I heard baking with olive oil was all the rage now.

How do you think olive oil will be healthier than vegetable oil????

no, it will taste weird. use canola oil, itz like olive oil becuz itz good for you heart becuz it has poly/monounsaturated fat. Than again, are you making muffins? I saw a good recipe today on tv for olive oil muffins for giada on foodnetwork
