Butternut Squash & BBQ's?!

Question:

Butternut Squash & BBQ's?

Hi

Can anyone please tell me how to prepare Butternut Squash for the BBQ?
Any good recipes would also be appreciated.

Thanks

Answers:
Squash with Spiced Pecan Butter (this recipe is for 2 squashes, obviously you can multiply or halve as needed):

For the butter:

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/3 cup chopped toasted pecans
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

To make the butter: In a small bowl, combine the butter, pecans, maple syrup, cinnamon, salt, ginger, and pepper. Mix well with a fork.

For the squash:

2 butternut squashes, 1-1/2 to 2 pounds each
2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
salt
Freshly ground black pepper

To prepare the squash: With a large, heavy knife cut the squash in half lengthways. Remove the seeds with a spoon. Lightly brush the exposed flesh with the oil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Put the squash halves, cut sides down, on the BBQ grill, over embers, not flames, until grill marks are clearly visible, about 30 minutes. Turn the squash halves cut sides up. Spread the exposed flesh with the pecan butter. Continue grilling until the flesh is tender, 20 to 30 minutes. Serve warm.

Cut into strips Pour olive oil on it (lightly). Put a griddle pan on BBQ and cook until browned both sides.

Cut the butternut squash in half and clean out the seeds. Then in a skillet saute' up some onions, bacon, celery, brown sugar, and walnuts up till they become soft. Spoon into the center of the squash and cover with foil just the tops of the squash. then place on the barbie for about one hour or until tender to the fork.

Cut the squash up into small bite sized squares. Brush lightly with a mixture of butter and olive oil and sprinkle a little salt, pepper and rosemary on. Wrap all together in tin foil and put on BBQ for about 20 minutes or until the squash is nicely roasted.

Fast and easy-
Cut in half and clean the seeds out.
Put big pat of butter in hole
Salt and pepper to taste
Fill with maple syrup of choice
Wrap in foil, put on grill
When the meat is done your desert will be too.

split leanth wise. DE seed roast with butter or marg, w/ a lite sprinkling or Cinnamon. until fork tender. scoopout the skin, add a littke brown sugar, and servre hot

BAKED BUTTERNUT SQUASH

Wash 2 Butternut squashes, split them in half, and remove seeds. Coat the meat thickly with butter and sprinkle with sugar, salt and pepper to taste and a little ground ginger. Arrange cut side up in a shallow baking pan in 1 inch of water. Bake them in a moderate oven (350 degree) for about 1 hour or until they are brown and very tender when tested with a fork. Serve with the shell.

The best answer here is DONT do on bbq. Cut up some good wedges - coat in a mix of honey, freshly grated ginger , b/pepper and a touch of olive oil. ROAST in oven -- DEEVINE - and gives you more space to faff around on barbie- a helper can sort that out whilst you panic around on BBQ.
