could you find me a recipe?

Answers:
This is called "Hardtack". Just type into your browser ARMY HARDTACK RECIPES and you get a lot of history, recipes, etc. on this bread from the Civil War period on into WWll. Good luck.

Try using a regular biscuit recipie, then removing some of the liquid and cooking them for too long. They'll be about as palatable as rocks.

Germans have something called Zwieback, which means twice baked. They slice the loaf, then put the slices into the oven at low temp to get all the moisture left, out. ~

All you need to do is leave out the baking powder or baking soda if there is any. Also use melted butter instead of cold butter. The butter in between the layers of dough as it cooks causes steam and that makes the biscuits lite and fluffy. If you melt the butter and mix it in very well it will not be able to make the steam and make the dough rise. Also, make sure you cook them well done.
