Rinsing pasta?!
Rinsing pasta?
when cooking pasta if i rise will it take out the nutritions?
Answers:
Rinsing pasta washes off the sticky starch that the sauce needs to stick to it. The only time you should rinse it is if it's going to be served cold... like pasta salad.
No ...basically you loose most of that in the boiling process.
no rinsing it will make it less sticky
Only rince it if you are serving it cold. The sauce will stick to the pasta better if you leave the starch on the pasta. Do not add oil to your pasta water either, the sause will just slide off your pasta.
The only time to rinse pasta after draining is when you are going to use it in a cold dish, or when you are not going to sauce and serve it immediately. In those cases, rinse the pasta under cold water to stop the cooking process, and drain well.
You won't loose much in the way of nutrients, but you will loose the starch that helps sauce, herbs and spices adhere to the pasta. Even with pasta salads, I don't rinse, season while hot, add any veggies and let cool. Then add dressing after pasta and other ingredients have cooled. It just seems to soak up the flavors better without rinsing, and seasoning while hot.
