Easy Garlic bread? home made?
how do you make it with house hold ingrients
Answers:
I usually keep whole garlic cloves around my house... so I take one whole clove, cut the top off add about a tblsp of olive oil, wrap it in foil and throw it on the grill for 30-45 minutes. Once it is cooked, open it up, let it cool off and it will spread similar to butter. It is the BEST garlic bread ever!
If you don't want to grill it, there is a way to cook it in the microwave but I'm not sure exactly how.
make a slice of toast.
put butter on it
sprinkle with garlic salt
I just spread margerine on a slice of bread and sprinkle garlic powder on top, then toast or broil it. You can find more exotic recipes on foodnetwork.com
i like getting a loaf of french bread, butter it, put garlic salt on it, and maybe some mozz cheese then broil it for a couple minutes
or you can go get some garlic and herb dipping oil and a loaf of asiago french bread and let everyone dip it themselves, like they do at the cool italian places :)
If you don't have fresh garlic, powdered will have to do:
Simply mix melted or softened butter with the garlic (I use about 2 cloves or 1 teaspoon powder per 1/2 a stick of butter) and some parsley flakes for color and flavor, spread it on any white bread, and bake at about 400 degrees until golden brown.
take bread ...
spread butter on it
garlic
mozzerella if your interested
pop it in the oven
Get a nice french bread loaf and split it lengthwise
a cup of softened butter or marg.
grind up a few fresh garlic pieces and stir into the butter.{you can use garlic powder but its not as nice as a real freh garlic
spread this evenly over both sides of the bread.
I like to add some sharp cheddar cheese too
put it in some tin foil open butter sides up ..if you want it crisp..dont seal up the tinfoil..just leave it loose and open.
if you want it moist and soft..seal it up
bake at 375 for about 15 min or whatever you think...keep an eye on it

Well there are several ways to make great garlic bread.
I prefer the long french baguette type bread...slice it all up, get a long cookie sheet, butter the bread and turn the top broiler on.
You can either do a couple of things...make your garlic BUTTER in advance by getting a garlic press and pressing several cloves of garlic, and mixing it in room temp butter or margarine and letting it sit for a good couple of hours.
Put that on your bread, into a heated oven (set on broil) and WATCH it..because it will burn...it will take about a minute or two to start browning...just shut the oven off when it starts to brown and let it stay as long as you can without it burning (another minute or so) then pull it out.
CLUB HOUSE makes some excellent garlic seasoning and I absolutely love using that on buttered bread, broil, and instant garlic bread. I prefer to use that when I make bruschetta.
To make bruschetta chop up tomatoes, basil, parsley and oregano (if you have them handy), green onions and a small garlic clove. I like to season that mix with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt/pepper to taste. Again if you let it sit a bit the flavour strengthens....and really you can just toast the bread plain (or seasoned as above) and then add the tomatoes to the top, heat for another minute, but you don't have to if you like the tomatoes cold...either way is fine.
I actually like to buy the hard pita breads and put this bruschetta mix on it and heat. I usually add a bit of water as the bread is rock hard...it softens in the oven and this is out of this world....do it in summer when everything is in season and the riper the tomatoes the better!
Oh and feel free to add Reggiano Parmesan cheese (the best parmesan on the planet) to the top of either of those...asiago is great too, and I love Fontana cheese which is similar to mozarella but has a more creamer texture and more flavour.
Enjoy.
Split one loaf of french bread, spread with butter, and add finely chopped garlic and chopped parsely, broil it until lightly toasted - enjoy.
when I worked in a bakery all we did was slice Italian bread down the middle....put margarine on each side then shake garlic on it...they use the kind you buy with the herbs...but all I do is put on some garlic powder and a little Italian seasoning and wrap it in foil and put it in a warm oven....usually 200 if I had not used the oven...otherwise I would turn off the oven after cooking and put the bread in to warm.....oh yeah and at home I use butter rather than margarine.
Mince about 2-3 cloves of garlic (my family likes it with 4-5). Mix it with about 1/4 cup of softened salted butter. Spread on slices of french bread or any other type of bread you have. Place on a cookie sheet and back until light or golden brown.
If you like it to be more garlicky than anything else you'll need to use more than 2-3 cloves.
We make garlic butter at work all the time. We take 1 pound of butter, let sit at room temp. till softened. Put butter in a mixer and add granulated garlic to it and some parsley and parmesan. Using a whip, mix all ingredients together until smooth. Spread on any type of bread available and put in the oven, a toaster oven or under the broiler until golden brown.
