Being from the south, we loved grilled white corn. Go to your local produce stand & get some ears of silver queen corn.....Husk, de-silk, & rinse then lay each ear in the center of a piece of foil. Rub ear in butter all the way around the kernels, then lightly salt. Wrap tightly in foil, then place over medium coals. Turn with tongs every so often til done - about 20 - 30 minutes.......Serve with fresh butter......Yummy!!

both and some pepper
I think butter, and only salt if it's not sweet enough. they go good with grains and sometimes beans, and maybe chicken. good luck with that.
Instead of boiling the ears of corn, try roasting them in the oven, wrap them in aluminum foil with a pat of butter on each ear, and some fresh basil leaves, maybe a little fresh ground pepper, whatever you like. Roast for half an hour at 400 degrees. Makes for some tasty corn. A lot tastier than boiling it.
I roast them with the hull still on. With this the hull will kind of steam the corn and concentrate the natural sugars in the corn. Making it even sweeter. You can do this two ways 1. Soak the corn ears in water for 10mins. then place them directly on the grill and close the lid on low. 2. Wrap each ear with aluminum foil with the hull still on and place on grill close the lid and cook on low. ALL FOR ABOUT 20 MINS.
When they are done is when you can add the butter , salt, parmesan cheese, or salt.
if you are out on the bbq, put them on the heat there-that will give them a good color and wonderful flavor. cook them in the husk-peel em back without tearing off, take out silks, then rewrap the corn wtih the husk. Place on the bbq grill and cook for about 5 mins on each 'side'. Roll them over about 3 or 4 times to cook all the way 'round. Or if you have cleaned corn, do the same, but have them higher above the heat so they dont burn, or just rotate them more.
I love sweet white corn, its the best! you can acutally eat it raw if its really fresh. I usually put mine in boiling water for just a few minutes, to cook the starch in the kernals, just a bit, then when they are done, I like butter and salt.
A tasty variation is Mexican style; mayo, chili powder or chili flakes (ground) and lime juice. You can even use a chili sauce, like tobasco or cholula. Its good!!!!!
