Answers:
I always cook my roasts in my crock pot on low, for about 7-8 hours and it comes out fork tender, but you can cook it however you want.
Browning it on all sides will help to seal in the juices, but make sure you also add a liquid with the roast. I've done them with a can of Pepsi or Coke and it comes out very good and tender, but my favorite way is with the packages of pot roast seasonings, just add a cup of water to the seasonings and pour over the roast. Don't forget the veges!
it might be dry for perfect roast cook on low.
I would cook it on low. If it is small it probably will take about 6 or 7 hours. It shouldn't be dry in a crock pot. I sometimes pour a can of mushroom soup over mine. Really yummy!
Add allot of gravy 2-3 can of beef gravy and let it simmer on high 4 -6 hours then on low the longer in there the more tender the meat, but must have juice as in gravy to remain juicy.
Here is what I do. Put the roast in the crock pot. (no browning) Pour water to within one inch of the top of the meat. Sprinkle a package of dry Lipton Onion Soup on top of the meat, not in the water. Cover. Cook for about 4-5 hours. Watch the water level. Remove, shred, and serve with broccoli rice and cheese, and a baked potato. My kids called this church meat, cause we could fix it before we went to church, and when we got back home, dinner was ready.
ok if you like to try different things, try adding rosemary, sage and onions i like to put my onions inside the meat so itll stay juicy the juice from the onions keeps it that way.
