Need ideas for different and unique frostings for cupcakes and or cakes?!

Question:

Need ideas for different and unique frostings for cupcakes and or cakes?

Answers:
Place a couple (or three) different colored frostings in a pastry bag, then pipe out. This creates the multiple color effect you see in grocery store cupcakes. I saw this on Semi Homemade the other day and they turned out really cute.

Dye the frosting to make it look different = try a color like hot pink or blue!!! hope i helped!!!

What kind of cupcakes or cakes are you making? Certain frostings only go well with certain types of cake.

Whip a mix of half pre-made frosting with half cream cheese----it adds a zip to any flavor at all!!

Brown Sugar Frosting

1 1/2 cup brown sugar
1 dash salt
1/4 cup cold water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 egg whites

Instructions:
Boil Sugar and water until it threads from the end of a fork. Cool and pour onto the stiffly beaten egg whites, add salt and vanilla and beat until cold.

when i make lime cupcakes, i make a coconut-lime icing out of storebought vanilla icing, shredded coconut, coconut extract, lime juice, and some other ingredients, then top it with crushed "nilla wafers" and some craft-store-bought mini umbrellas and scrapbooking stuff (paper beach balls and sandals) to make it look like the beach. i dont know what kind of cupcakes and/or cakes you're talking about, but that's a nice one for presentation if that's what you're looking for!

Choice 1
Frosting infused with delicate, unusual flavors such as champagne, kahlua, Grand Marnier, ginger or mocha.

Choice 2
Make Easy, Flavorful Kool-Aid Frosting
I discovered this unusual use for Kool-Aid powder when I had a can of vanilla frosting one day and a cherry chip cake to frost. I stirred in a package of cherry flavored Kool-Aid and the result was a delicious, creamy topping that everyone loved!

If you need to make a tasty frosting for a gelatin cake, all you need to do is fold in a pack of Kool-Aid into a container of thawed Cool Whip?. If the frosting tastes a little tart, add in sugar, a little at a time until it tastes good to you.

Choice 3
Cinnamon Coffee Frosting...
INGREDIENTS

* 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1 pinch salt
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/2 cup butter, softened
* 3 cups confectioners' sugar
* 1/3 cup milk

DIRECTIONS

1. In a small bowl, mash instant coffee with the back of a spoon until powdery. Stir in cinnamon and salt. In a large bowl, beat the butter until smooth, then stir in spice mixture and vanilla. Alternately beat in confectioners' sugar and milk until desired consistency is achieved.

Buy a box of "Dream Whip" whip topping powder and any flavor of instant pudding. The directions should be on the dream whip box.

examples: dream whip & banana cream on a fudge marble cake-- dream whip & chocolate on yellow, strawberry, or chocolate cake

Someone posted a link to a recipe on this blog yesterday and I was riveted looking through all the recipes. There is some very cool, VERY unique ideas here:
