Has Anyone ever made Mochi Icecreams balls before ? How did it turn out?

Practice... lol.. I agree with the first answerer, it can be real messy, but in winter time, you can handle it better!
I scoop the ice-cream balls, keep them in the freezer, prepare 1 by 1 with the mochi wrap while still keeping the others in the freezer. When finished 1, roll it in the corn flour and put it in the air-tight container asap (keep that air-tight container in the freezer too)
So, you have to open and close the freezer many times.. if you want to fix it in Summer time.
It can get really messy.
Soften the ice cream and use a small ice cream scoop and then refreeze them in that shape.
Work quickly when shaping the dough.
But seriously just buy a box!
There are two really good books out on mochi .But just go to Costco or a Trader Joe's. Find out when there are Mochi poundings in your area. They do them all over the place. Ask your local Temple.
