Is All-Clad really better than Calphalon tri-ply stainless?!

Question:

Is All-Clad really better than Calphalon tri-ply stainless?

I am hunting for a great set of pans, and have narrowed down the field to two: All-clad stainless and Calphalon tri-ply stainless. The most obvious difference is the price, but does anyone have experience with these brands? Which is better and why? Thanks in advance for your advice!!

Answers:
I have pieces from both lines, and I love them both. I like the handles and lids better on the Calphalon by far, though. As far as cooking ability, I only notice the tiniest difference in how quickly the pans heat. The All Clad heats up a few seconds faster, so it must have a bit more aluminium at it's core. Honestly, those few seconds for heating don't really justify the extra $$$. Both sets are heavy gauge, 18/10, lifetime warrantee, and have fully clad construction. They both cook great. You will be ecstatic with either....

All-Clad is far and away the better product. Made in the U.S.A. from American steel and aluminum. Williams Somoma always rates them higher than any other brands.
