Will toasting old bread make it fresh?!
Will toasting old bread make it fresh?
I'm talking about the regular store bought whole wheat bread.... I keep them in the fridge to preserve it better, but since i'm the only one eating them, it takes up to 3 weeks to finish it........so should I buy fresh bread every week or does toasting it make it fresh again? SO, what i mean is:
Does fresh toast bread and a week old toasted bread have any differences in taste?
The bread has no mold or anything...it's just a little harder, so wouldn't toasting it make it just like if i toasted fresh store bought bread?
Answers:
Put the bread in the freezer instead. If needed, divide the loaf into smaller portions and put into zip lock type bags. Frozen bread will keep and is just as fresh when taken out as it was when you put it in. You can then do what you like with it. Even toast it directly from the freezer if you want.
(I buy bread 3 loaves at a time for my husband and myself and keep them this way.)
All you can do is try it......only YOU can answer that question.....take the bread from the fridge, pop it in the toaster, spread some butter on it and enjoy. I think you'll be pleased with the taste.
won't make it fresh, but it should cut the staleness.
You should not eat three week old bread. Buy a smaller loaf and finish eating it in two or three days' time.
That is what I always do when the bread starts to go stale. Toasted stale bread tastes just the same as toasted fresh bread.
whassa matta witcha? try it out!!!!
no one can make old bread fresh unless you have a magic toaster
Toasting stale bread will not make it fresh, it will just taste the same as normal toast and it will be just as edible.
Yes and no. Store bought bread of any kind will never taste like fresh bread baked in your kitchen - of any kind.
Now let me step off my soap box...
My household is prone to whole wheat bread in general both for taste and health reasons. I certainly know that in the right environment it can last for three weeks (I even used to buy it when I was single and managed to keep it for that long).
Toasting won't make it taste fresher, but it will make it taste better, no matter how old it is. Something about the nutty flavor is accentuated by the toasting process.
I can't say the same for white bread; I've just never eaten it. What I do eat is whole wheat bread.
Toast it and toast it always.
if your just going to toast it slightly stale bread is best (not sure about 3 weeks though)
If your trying to make a sandwich pop the slices of bread in the microwave for about 10 seconds which does help to soften it up a little ( I do this with tortilla's too)
I would probably either buy smaller loaf of bread and use it quicker or buy it and freeze it a couple of slices in a sandwich type bag
Wrap bread individually and freeze them.
Microwave for about 30 seconds ~ 1 minute depending on your machine. This makes them really soft.
Toast them if you want.
