I want to make a romantic dinner.....?!
I want to make a romantic dinner.....?
For me and my boyfriend, we have been together for over 3 years now and we are both over 19 years of age, What would be the best/easiest dinner and wine that would go good together?
Reason why I say easy is cause im not that good of a cook, but I do want to show that I am trying to make an effort.

Something other than pasta, and maybe an actual recipe, I don't cook, and I don't know my wines very well, I tend to drink wine without food.

I do like the pasta idea - here is how I make it ....
Things you need:
(Don't get scared by the amount of ingredients. Just prepare all the vegies before you warm the pan and you should be fine!)
medium to large frying pan
frying margarine/butter
1 chopped onion
1 package of bacon - cut into aprx. 1 inch pieces
garlic (depends on how much you like, I use about 2 cloves - minced.)
1 red pepper /or ? red pepper ? yellow - cut into 1 inch slices
Sliced mushrooms (if you'd like)
heavy cream /whipping creme (liquid)
Your favorite jarred spaghetti sauce
Parmessian cheese (grated)
Red jalepeno if you can find it
Dried balcimico and oregeno
paprika
salt and pepper
(possibly ketchup)
Favorite pasta - I like Penne the best!
1) Boil the water (try to time it with the sauce - sauce takes about 20 minutes.)
You want your grease/butter to sizzle and then it will stop sizzling - now the pan is ready for you to add the onions.
2) On medium to high heat fry the chopped onions, turn heat down to medium and add the sliced bacon.
3) Sprinkle with pepper and let fry for a few minutes, stirring ocassionally.
- now add the minced garlic.
4) When the bacon gets a nice fried texture add the pepper, and about a minute later add the mushrooms.
5) Let fry for a few minutes, stirring occassionally.
6) Turn the stove down a notch and add the spaghetti sauce and stir around. Allow to warm all the way through. If it starts to pop then the stove is too hot. Use low heat for the rest of the instructions.
7) Don't forget to stir your pasta in the mean time!
8) Add in cream - up to you how much, but about 1/3 of a cup should do it. Stir around. This should give it a more orangeish color.
9) sprinkle in your spices. and stir in the parmessian cheese (freshly graded is best).
10) Add a bit of ketchup
11) red jalepeno to spice it up a bit. (chopped into tiny pieces)
I hope it turns out great! Good luck!! :-)
You can serve this with a bagguette /flute that you warm up in the oven. :-) And a nice red wine from south africa, chili or australia! A good californian wine is "Woodbridge". :-)
I'll say the best and easiest food to make is pasta. Get some candles, some champaigne, some romantic music playing in the background to set a loving mood....and you're good to go!
Also, if you want to be more romantic....buy him a rose. He'll feel special.
Be safe and have fun!
First,
you need to ask him when is his available day
so that you can know when to do your romantic dinner.
Second,
if you are really his girlfriend you know what is the style he want. but maybe the perfect style is just simple not elegant.
it doesn't mean that when the dinner is simple, you don't love him anymore.
Third,
you need to make a situation like this:
you will call him the day of your romantic dinner to ask him to go with you in the park or in the grocery.
then,
when you are on the way to the park,
act like you forgot something in your house.
when you are in your house,
you should surprise him to your romantic dinner!!
Have a nice romantic dinner!!!!!!!!!!
Gud luck!!!!!!
Before you start, you must know what your boyfriend likes first. This is very important. You can make the best liver steak in the world but if your BF don't like liver, your SOL.
Show him that you are not only trying to cook well, but interested at what he likes too. It will have a stronger effect. All men want their ladies to make the dishes that they like to eat. It's just the way it is.
Decide on the: date, menu, wine, desert and the setting.
Good settings like the table cloth, napkins, utensils, candle light, music and flowers enhance your dinner greatly. They don't have to be expensive or fancy, just good in theme and or taste.
Don't schedule it too tightly. Make sure you have plenty of time before and after.
As far as menu is concerned any good cook books or even the TV shows will do. Just practice a couple of times before the actual dinner. Let your family and or friends try it first and let you know how it turned out. You will come out a winner like that.
Good Luck.

OK, I've read your additional info.
How about some Shrimp Scampi?
Ingredients:
about 20 ~ 30 pieces of large black tiger shrimp.
1 large onion (cut lenght wise).
4 pieces of crushed garlic.
pinch of salt.
pinch of pepper.
about 3 table spoon of butter.
1 table spoon of oil (olive or canola are the best).
Preparation:
Get large or jumbo (not small) shrimp from supermarket. Better from fish market and live with head on. If not, frozen works fine too. But you want the head still on, cause the head has lot's of flavors that comes out when cooked. If frozen, defrost shrimp in slow running cold water. Try to cut the long back part of shrimp and devein if possible. If not it's OK.
Cut onions. First both ends off, peal skin, cut top to bottom not side ways, flip flat side down with top side up (the lines should be top to bottom, not side to side) slice thinly.
Crush garlic. Dont mince. Try to keep the juices.
Cooking directions:
Heat large pan (12 inch) or a wok (better a wok). When the pan is hot, drizzle cooking oil. Test oil by tilting or moving the pan from side to side, oil should move easily. Don't allow the oil to burn.
Throw in the garlic first. Fry garlic a little to get the flavor out into the oil; but not too much, don't brown the garlic. Throw in shrimp and butter then cover the pan with lid. Move the pan in circular motion about every 10 seconds to keep contents from burning.
After shrimp cooks about half way, put in the onions. Cover again. Covering seals the natural juices and flavors in. Reduce heat to half. Move pan about every 20 seconds (be sure to move pan in a way that the shrimp on bottom will go to the top and top to bottom, so they will cook evenly and not burn). After about 2 - 3 minutes open lid and sprinkle salt and pepper to taste.
Remove from heat and keep lid on until serving time.
Goes well with mashed potatoes and gravy (also try mashed yams), dinner rolls, salads, steamed corn, baked potatoes, and baked yams. And others to suite your taste.
White wine with this dish.
Good Luck.
Pasta works great! especially if you can take a jar of sauce and pour it into a sauce pan. warm it up and doctor it up a little- make it your own. and don't forget the crusty bread.
Cheese, salami, mustard, crackers, grapes, wine, crusty bread- Makes a great lunch or picnic - no cooking
Order pizza and have chilled champagne. Guys don't need all the frills .
And they usually don't realize the effort you went through.
What kind of food does he like? If you know, then you can narrow it down to what to make. Just look around and see what sounds easy for you.
First of all, pick something he likes such as steak or seafood - then invite him over to cook dinner together. Ask him to pick up the wine on the way over & you can be the dessert!!
It's all in the presentation. My Welsh gran said "you take the first bite with your eye"
There used to be a really good cookbook called "The Bachelor Cookbook" by Len Deighton with lots of really good tricks like Heat up a tin of soup and put a slug of sherry or brandy in it.
I know that you asked for a specific recipe, but I am not the best cook myself so I wouldn't be of much help. Whenever I want to cook for my boyfriend though, I go to Yahoo!food. They have a lot of simple recipes that are really great. I'm not sure exactly what kind of food you're looking for, but they have a huge selection so I'm sure that would help. As far as the wine goes, I can help there. My favorite wine is Riesling. This would go best with seafood, poultry, pork or veal. Jekel and J. Lohr are two of my favorites and are not too expensive. If you'd rather go with a red wine (which would go better with beef, lamb, or red pasta sauces) I would say to go with a Shiraz or Pinot Noir since they are light bodied your man might like that better if he's not a "wine drinker". Rosemount is by far my favorite Shiraz. Kendall Jackson makes great wine and is reasonably priced as well. Good luck with your dinner!! I hope I was helpful!! :o)
Pot Roast
simple..
ingredients
pot roast
potatoes-peeled and cut into chunks
baby carrots
canned whole green beans-optional
can of cream of mushroom
lipton onion soup envelope
soup can of water
place roast in roasting pan, place veggies around roast, mix soups and water and pour over roast and veggies. cook for about 1-2 hours, depending on size of roast. 400 degree oven. serve biscuits to sop up gravy... Can also cook this in a crock pot for 4-6 hours on low
This is quick and easy.
Saturday Chicken
5 servings
10 chicken pieces
(you dont have to use that many chicken pieces. Use how many pieces you want. the rest of the recipe stays the same.)
1 can condensed cream of mushroom (or cream of chicken)
1 cup of cream (dont cheat and use milk; the cream makes a lot of difference)(I have cheated and used milk lol but the cream does make a difference)
salt, garlic powder, and paprika- to taste
chopped parsley
Season chicken with salt, garlic, and paprika. Next, spread it out, in one layer baking pan. Dilute the soup with the cream; pour it over the chicken, and sprinkle parsley on top.
Bake , uncovered, at 350' for 1 hour or until juices run clear when chicken is pierced with fork.
Makes a delicious gravy. Serve with mashed potatoes or buttered noodles or rice.
As for the wine, I suggest red wine for beef and white wine for poultry.
Do you have a grill?
Ribs are awesome, and I think anything you eat with your hands is romantic.
BBQ Pork Ribs
One rack of pork ribs, about 1 pound per person.
BBQ sauce
Pull the thin membrane off the rib side of the rack and discard.
On a very warm grill, place your rack of ribs. Turn every 10 to 15 minutes. After about 30 minutes of cooking, flip your ribs and baste the top side with your BBQ sauce. Cook for about 15 minutes and turn. Baste the side that is now up. Watch them so they don't burn, the sauce will burn easily. You may need to reduce the temperature or put your ribs where the grill isn't so hot if they want to burn.
Cook until the meat is pulling back from the bone, about one hour, depending on how hot your grill is and how thick your ribs are.
Serve with some extra BBQ sauce, crusty bread, a bottle of Cabernet and have a great time.
