Does anyone have any fun cooking recipes for kids?
cup cakes/sponges/cookies biscuits any ideas would be greatly recived!
Answers:
You can make cupcakes in a icecream cone. The cooking time is the same as cupcakes. To make the cones stand up, use a muffin pan. Then when cupcakes are cooled. Frost them.
You can make sugar cookies (i cheat and use a store brand) Then dye vanilla frosting using different food coloring. Have the children frost the cookies and then decorate using rainbow sprinkles or chocolate sprinkles, colored sugar sprinkles, m&m's, chocolate chips etc.
Ressurection Biscuits
Ingredients:
? Refrigerator Biscuits-1 roll (Pillsbury or similar)
? Large Marshmallows-1 per biscuit
? Melted butter
? Sugar & Cinnamon mixture - I am not exactly sure on the amounts of butter and cinnamon/sugar, just enough
to cover the buns.
Directions:
1. Wrap one biscuit around 1 marshmallow. dip in butter and roll in cinnamon/sugar.
2. Bake as directed on the refrigerator biscuit package.
When you bite into the biscuit the marshmallow has disappeared, but still has the flavoring.
Resurrection Rolls
Ingredients:
? 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough separated into eight triangles
? 8 large marshmallows
? Melted butter
? Cinnamon
? Sugar
Directions:
Dip the marshmallow in the butter and roll in cinnamon and sugar mixture.
Lay the marshmallow on the dough and carefully wrap it around the marshmallow.
Make sure all seams are pinched together well. (Otherwise the marshmallow will "ooze" out of the seams)
Bake according to package directions.
Cool.
Monkey Bread
Ingredients:
2-1/2 cups sugar
4 teaspoons cinnamon
one stick butter
(4) 7 ounce cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Greases a bundt pan. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a 1 gallon plastic bag. Work with 1 can of biscuits at a time. Remove the biscuits, and cut each biscuit into 4 equal pieces. And then add ten pieces at a time to the bag with sugar cinnamon mixture. Close bag and shake to coat. Gently press the pieces into the prepared pan. Repeat this procedure with the other 3 cans of biscuits. Melt butter in a saucepan and add remaining sugar cinnamon mixture. Pour over biscuits. Bake at 350' for 35 minutes, until browned. Remove from the oven and turn out onto serving plate while still hot. This bread is best eaten while still warm, pulling apart the pieces with your fingers. Hence, the name Monkey Bread!
Just take any cup cakes and let them decorate it. Have some round sweets for eyes, noses and stringy things for hair. Loads of fun.

Fridge cake.....Melt tog 4oz butter and 4oz golden syrup. Stir in 1oz cocoa 8oz crushed digestives and some cherries and currants. Put in greased tin and leave to cool. Cover with melted chocolate.
Buy a packet of bread mix and instead of making a loaf, let them make bread mice or hedgehogs. Use currants for eyes and snip the dough to look like quills.

Use a basic sponge mix and add a teaspoon of cinnamon during the mixing stage, it will probably be their first introduction to cinnamon and will make their eyes sparkle with delight................... My daughter is forty next week but still makes a cinnamon sponge on high days and holidays, she would be about 7 - 8 when we first tried it.....
