What do American like to eat? Any special dish? Some recipes?!

Question:

What do American like to eat? Any special dish? Some recipes?

Answers:
If you're talking about the United States, I think it depends on the region. I am from the Midwest (Wisconsin) and usually the foods we eat here are pretty bland. We have a strong German influence here. Potatoes, steaks, and hamburgers are very popular, but if you go to other regions in the U.S it will differ. On the coastlines there will be more seafood and in the Southwest it can have a 'Tex-Mex' flavor (food with a bit of Mexican flavor but that is not really Mexican at all); but I am not from the Southwest so I'm sure that there is great variety here too, i.e. they don't eat just Tex-Mex and many people probably don't even use that term. I've heard that the South has its own type of food that is a bit different from the rest of the regions.

I've lived in the U.S most of my life, so this is what I think but by no means am I an expert. The U.S is becoming more diversified everyday (which I think is great) and new cultures bring their foods. The best answer to your question is that Americans eat a variety of foods and it depends on the region and cultural influences.

Hamburgers and Hot dogs =)

Americans are all different. Some will try anything, and some have their favorites.

Whoa Love, good luck with this one!!! LOL, There are 300 million of us and the most ethnicaly diverse place on earth, more of a question of what DON'T we eat!
Actually a good question and I hope people send you LOTS of recipes, I'll have my pen ready.

why do you want to be more like Americans? Be who you are and nothing more.

Anything fattening.
We love cheeseburgers and french fries, pasta, pizza, fried chicken, anything BBQ'd or in a cream sauce.

Here in Texas we like BBQ, Chicken fried steaks and hamburgers. Try some of these easy to make recipes.

CHICKEN FRIED STEAK
2 pkg. tenderized cube or round steak
1 c. whole milk
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. black pepper
1 1/2 - 2 c. cooking oil
Good heavy skillet
I start heating my skillet first and when it gets warmed up (7 minutes), I add my cooking oil and let it heat also. While that is heating up, I get the steak ready, pound each steak with the side of a mallet or palm of your hand until very thin. Place steaks (2 at a time) in shallow dish containing milk. Next, mix the flour, salt and pepper in a shallow dish. Remove steak from milk, dredge in flour mixture, place into skillet and brown on both sides. Continue cooking until all steaks are cooked.
CREAM GRAVY:
1/3 c. hot steak drippings
1/4 c. flour
2 c. milk
Salt and pepper to taste
I use another skillet, let it get hot and add steak drippings, flour, salt and pepper. Stir with wire whisk until blended. Next add 2 cups milk, continuing to stir until gravy thickens. Serve with chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes.

BBQ BRISKET
1 (4-6 lb.) beef brisket (fresh)
Celery salt
Garlic salt
Onion salt
Chili powder
1 bottle BBQ sauce
2-4 tbsp. Liquid Smoke
Put brisket in 13"x9" baking pan (put in fat side up). Heavily season with above seasonings to cover top of meat. Pour Liquid Smoke around meat. Tightly cover with foil and bake at 275 degrees for 4 hours. Remove from oven and pour off drippings (there will be plenty). Pour BBQ sauce over top of meat and cover; return to oven for 1 hour more. Remove and slice thinly across meat. Super.

I live in the Great Pacific Northwest, so we like alot of fresh seafood.......salmon, clams (try a goeyduck), crab and all kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables. Alot of my cooking could be called PanAsian, but we also like chicken, beef and pork.
We grill and smoke alot here. Smoked salmon is awesome.
