Amish Friendship bread?!

Question:

Amish Friendship bread?

everyone in my family loves the amish friendship bread, but everyone gets sick of getting the starter bags, and we don't like throwing away the remainder bags. Is there anyway to make this bread without having to make other bags?

Answers:
I did some testing on this bread. The whole point of the starter in this bread is to create an acidic mixture to combine with the baking powder and soda. The reaction between the acid and the sodas causes the bread to rise. You can replace the starter with buttermilk and get exactly the same results--I know because I tried it.

You can use chocolate pudding, white chocolate pudding, banana pudding, etc. They all work nicely. You could also try adding almond extract instead of vanilla extract. It tastes wonderful.

You can make one starter bag with one cup of sugar, one cup of milk and one cup of flour. And then of course you do the ten days worth of different steps After adding 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of sugar on the tenth day in a bowl. And then I two and a 1/2 times the recipe. I use seven eggs. And i dont use that much cinnamon. After putting all the ingredients in a bowl, you may want to put it in two bowls so you can mix it together. I use my Clean fingers to mix it. It makes approx. seven or eight loaves. Depending on the size of the loaf pans.
If you have any questions please email me. If you dont understand i will email you the exact measurements.
