New cook.... How long do you cook corn on the cob?!

Question:

New cook.... How long do you cook corn on the cob?

Answers:
After your water comes to a boil, cover and cook it for no longer than 5 minutes.

I personally think it's best at 3 minutes, but play around with different times until you find what pleases you the most.

I agree with 2 beagals if your boiling them.

Or oven baked

FOIL BAKED CORN ON THE COB

12 ears fresh corn or frozen (thawed)

SEASONED BUTTER:

1/2 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 450 degrees or prepare coals in grill.
Remove husks and silk from corn just before cooking; rinse ears. Spread seasoned butter on corn and place each ear on a piece of heavy aluminum foil. Wrap securely. Bake or grill 4-6 inches above glowing coals 20-25 minutes.

Other seasonings you may want to try for the seasoned butter are:

1/2 tsp. garlic salt to 1/2 cup butter

1/2 teaspoon hickory-smoked salt to 1/2 cup butter

1/2 teaspoon barbecue spice to 1/2 cup butter.

I usually put the corn in cold water and as soon as it start to get a good boil going, I shut the heat off and let the corn sit in the hot water till I'm ready to eat 5 to 10 mins.
