Summer Appetizer Party

Pesto Torte:
This easy make ahead torte is spectacularly beautiful and very tasty. Serve it with toasted garlic bread, breadsticks, crudites, and crackers.

Spicy Pecans:
These hot and spicy nuts are a great nibbler. Place several small bowls of this recipe around your party area.

Layered Taco Dip:
Another make ahead recipe! Make this dip spicy or mild depending on the ingredients you use and serve it with lots of different colored tortilla chips.

Filo Onion Rolls:
This is the baked last minute appetizer I most often serve. Make several trays of these little rolls and freeze them, then just unwrap and bake each as your party progresses.

Bacon Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes:
This appetizer must be made several hours ahead of time. Arrange them on two platters and simply replace the first platter when it starts to empty.

Dragon's Breath Dip:
Your guests won't believe that there are two heads of garlic in this recipe. It's nutty, rich, and delicious. Serve with crudites and breadsticks.

Gingery Fruit Dip:
A sweet dip is necessary in the summer simply because summer fruits are at their peak. Surround this pretty dip with strawberries, cantaloupe and other melon cubes or slices, kiwifruit, and some simple sugar cookies.

Crockpot Crab Spread:
This rich and creamy crab spread just cooks away happily all by itself. Surround the crockpot with breadsticks and crusty bread slices.

Pork and Mango Skewers:
This grilled recipe is so juicy and flavorful. There's usually a grillmaster among your guests; let him or her handle tihs recipe over the coals.

Praline Cherry Munch:
This is my favorite sweet snack mix recipe. And kids love it!

Banana Slush Punch:
This is my favorite punch (even though I don't really like bananas!). Remember to take it out of your freezer a couple of hours before the party starts. I divide it into two containers so I can refresh the punch bowl halfway through the party.

Brownie Fudge:
There's always room for chocolate! This recipe makes a huge panful of super rich brownies. Cut them into 1" squares (that's really all anybody can handle) and stand back.

Caramel Cream Sandwich Cookies:
These little cookies are the perfect sweet bite at the end of your party. Make a double batch!

Cheese and crackers.

what about crepe swirls? too difficult to make the crepes? you can make them yourself the night before and then half an hour before eating, have the children spread some quark cheese + finely chopped chives, add some ham or smoked salmon, roll the crepes and cut it into swirls....

Finger Lil Smokie Rollups Recipe

Ready in: < 30 minutes
Difficulty: 2 (1=easiest :: hardest=5)
Serves/Makes: 1 dozen

Ingredients:
2 pkgs. of Lil Smokies (lil smoked sausages any brand)
1 can biscuits

Directions:

Roll up sausages in biscuits. Bake according to biscuit directions.

This recipe for Finger Lil Smokie Rollups serves/makes 1 dozen

Recipe ID: 19763

Buy large flour tortillas, super-thin sliced hard salami, and tubs of onion-chive soft cream cheese.

Spread the cream cheese on the tortillas, and cover with the salami. Roll up tightly, wrap in waxed paper or plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 2 hours. Unwrap & slice into 2 inch "pinwheels" and arrange cut side up on a platter.

Experiment with different fillings---pinwheels are popular and so simple.

Try these Oyster Snackers:
2 bags oyster crackers, 1 c vegetable oil, one envelope ranch dressing mix, 1 T garlic powder, 2 T dill weed.

Put crackers in a large bowl, set aside. Whisk the remaining ingredients together & pour over the crackers, stir until well coated.
A variation is to use the "Fiesta Ranch" envelope mix, and one c of oil--omit everything else. These are a zippy Mexican taste version.

Melt equal amounts Velveeta & canned no-bean chili in a small crock pot for a great dip (or use salsa instead of the chili).
Bake chicken wings (or drumettes) in half water, half soy sauce. These are delicious!

In a crockpot, melt half chili sauce and half grape jelly with a couple pkgs little smokie links---sounds weird, but there's NEVER leftovers!!

Here is some new ideas....
