How do I prevent my cookies from getting crispy at the edges?!

Question:

How do I prevent my cookies from getting crispy at the edges?

Answers:
I agree with the others and I've done a LOT of batches to get the perfect chewy/non-crispy cookie. Always use cold ingredients and keep your dough in the fridge between batches. Also make sure to put the dough on cool cookie sheets. Lower your baking time and take them out when they are just barely starting to brown, you might think they are not cooked yet but they will be perfect. If you want your cookies to not be flat, add more flour to your recipe.

Try switching from butter to margarine.

take them out of the oven right before they are done. Since they will continue to cook outside the oven, if you get them out when they are still soft, they will continue to cook a wee bit longer and will be perfect and soft. Also you can lower your oven temp a little this allows them to cook slower and keep softer.

If you like soft cookies, I usually bake them at the shortest time recommended and they don't get crispy

Make sure pan is cool and dough is chilled or it will spread too much and lead to crispy edges. Also watch your timing, just a minute too long can make a difference.

Don't overbake them.

If you're not already using an insulated cookie sheet, you might want to try that.

You just need to take them out earlier. They will feel soft in the middle, but 5 minutes later they will be solid. Take them off the pan to cool immediately too. The pan is hot and it will continue to cook them if they're still on it.
