How do you make the best reuben sandwich?!

Question:

How do you make the best reuben sandwich?

Answers:
oh this is my favorite way to make it
? cup sour cream
2 tablespoons chili sauce
1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
? teaspoon salt
8 slices rye bread (toasted)
? cup well-drained sauerkraut
8 slices cooked corned beef
8 slices Swiss cheese
Butter, softened for spreading

For the dressing combine sour cream, chili sauce, horseradish and salt; blend until smooth.

Spread dressing on each slice of bread. Spread about 2 tablespoons of sauerkraut onto 4 slices of bread. Top each with 2 slices corned beef, 2 slices swiss cheese and cover with the remaining 4 slices bread. Butter both sides of each sandwich.

Heat a griddle or skillet and cook on both sides until lightly browned and cheese is melted. Serve immediately.

Grill the bread

Dressing on right before it goes to the table.

there is this really good deli where i live that serves the best Ruben ever. they use really nice marble rye that they grill with butter like you would do a grilled cheese. then they load up the sandwich with huge amounts of sauerkraut and corned-beef until the sandwich is about 3 inches thick (no lie) and then along with the traditional thousand island dressing they also add spicy Dijon mustard which really adds that something extra that makes it the best I've ever had. enjoy

Here's a different take on Reuben's. I got this recipe out of a newspaper about 25 yrs. ago and have made it many times. Over the years I have developed short cuts. Make french bread or use frozen loaf. Slice length wise, not all the way though. spread chopped canned corned beef in slice, then sauerkraut, and cover with 1000 island dressing. Bake until bread is done. Slice and eat. This is really good and will feed two to four people depending on side dishes.
