Can you freeze homemade petso?!

Question:

Can you freeze homemade petso?

If I make a homemade spinach pesto can I freeze some of it.

Answers:
I freeze mine in ice cube trays, then transfer to plastic freezer bags. That way I can take out only the amount I want (a little or alot). :)

Yes. I make batches of pesto in the summer and use it all through the winter months - sunshine in a plastic tub.

Use a small plastic tub 4 oz to 8 oz size - fill to 1/2 inch from the top Snap on the lid and freeze. Easy.

To use, thaw in the fridge over night. Use with a couple of days.

Definitely! Just portion it up into gladware-type tubs, put a layer of saran wrap over the top and press down so it's touching the pesto, then put the lid on. I love having pesto on demand in the winter!

Scoop the Pesto into an ice cube tray. You'll end up with individual squares for smaller uses. Pop them out of the your ice tray and line them square by square (side by side) in a plastic zip-lock. If you just dump them in they tend to freeze into a big blob which kinda defeats the ice tray purpose...
Good luck!

Yes.........!
Make sure you defrost well in the fridge before using. If you are in a hurry, you can defrost in the microwave, but do not let it cook....

Super easy.......simply put the frozen pesto in a small sauce pot on low heat, covered until defrosted, stir occasionally. Use any way you like.

If possible, add a bit more fresh grated parm/romano or even myzithra for added punch at the very end.
