Is it safe to put leftovers in the refrigarator in a pot?
Answers:
If you are talking about a baking dish it is all right, bbut sealed would be better. If you are talking abut a metal pot, it may leach metals into the food. Take a minute to put the food in a sealed container, to keep it fresher, before putting it into the refrigerator
yes i do it! make sure you put wrenyls wrap on it!
What kind of pot? I'd say no to aluminum and cast iron.
my mom told me it was ok, but not in aluminin pots cause they will taste like the pot then.
Yes it's safe. Just let food cool down 1st.
Sometimes but if it is a food that contains acid it will leave places in the pot. It is safer to but it in a ziplock bag or a plastic container though
You can, with some caveats. If the food is/has tomatoe base, it may interact and get a "metallic" taste if the pot is aluminum or cast iron--no problem with stainless steel, glass (pyrex, fire king etc) or enamel. If the pot is hot, it will warm the items in the refrigerator in it's immediate vicinity (butter, items stored in plastic etc.) before it cools and cause your 'fridge to work harder. And of course it takes up more room. You should cover the pot, to avoid an interaction of smells in the 'fridge. For example if it is fish chowder, other stuff may end up smelling like fish, because regular foil wrap (left overs) or paper wrappers (butter) are not air tight and can absorb smells.
If your pot/pan is stainless steel, it's safe...
A better way would be to take just a few seconds, put leftovers in a smaller container, cover/seal it with either a cover or plastic wrap or foil.
Wash your pan so it will be ready for cooking the next meal or even reheating your left overs.
