No bread crumbs for meatballs, what can i use?!

Question:

No bread crumbs for meatballs, what can i use?

I'm want to make just basic meatballs for spaghetti but I realized I don't have any bread crumbs and it's a huge ordeal to go to the store. Can I shred regular bread or crush pretzels? Any other around-the-house solutions?

Answers:
You can use fresh bread crumbs or crackers, either one. Pretzels may make it too salty, so I don't recommend them. You don't have to toast the bread crumbs, just shred them and use them soft. If the recipe calls for seasoned bread crumbs, toss in some italian seasoning, or a little oregano, basil, and thyme!

shred bread and put in oven until right consistency. dont forget to season them

crackers

finely crushed crackers

crush some crakers or pretzels they work the same

you can make your own bread crumbs if you have bread in the house. or you can use crushed crackers.

just toast some bread and smash the bread into crumbs once it's as brown as you want it.

Toast some bread - break up and measure, use what you need in the meatloaf :)

or

you can crush pretzels and they'll be fine too, BUT remember the taste will be different.

or

you can use cooked rice! It is very good.

or

you can use bread baked in the oven for 15 minutes, crumble it and measure.

Good luck!

Toast your bread, then crumble it into crumbs. Crackers and oatmeal will work very well too! I've never tried pretzels. Why don't you try it, and tell us how it came out?

crush pretzels

-Shred regular bread and bake in the oven until it is dry or broil (watch carefully to make sure it doesn't burn)

-Use crushed crackers.

-Toast bread in toaster and then crumble.

-I've never tried this, but a tablespoon or two of cornstartch might work.

Crushed pretzels might be too salty.

crushed potato chips

Try using garlic flavored croutons. Process in a blender of food processor till they are the consistancy you would like.

Use regular bread. Just pick it into tiny pieces or put it in your food processor. Also, just wet the crumbs with a tiny bit of milk and they will turn out more moist!
