How do I make perfect fried bread & eggs?
My fried bread is always either too underdone or gets burnt around the edges! Not sure how much oil to use or how hot to get the pan. All tips would be great, could do with perfecting the fried egg too!
Cheers :)
Answers:
use butter instead of oil and a thin pan on a medium heat keep turning while frying it should turn out nice and golden with a crusty outside and not too soft inside
assuming you mean what we call egg & bread where you mix pieces of bread with beaten eggs
I’m sure that’s called French toast I think ?
i tell you what is nice, eggy bread. crack the eggs into a bowl a then beat the egg so that the yolk is mixed well in with the egg white. Dip the slice of bread into the egg and then fry the bread in a little oil in a frying pan, when golden flip the bread an cook the other side. Yum yum.
You need to make sure the oil is the right temperature. Both eggs and bread need a medium hot oil, so keep your hob control in the middle, if you see it cooking too quick, take pan off to an unlit hob. The same for eggs - I personally hate crispy white on fried eggs so keep mine cooking slowly but spoon oil over the top to cook the yolk.
why do you want to eat that? is not the healtiest option. you can try to cut the crust from your bread, the bread should be slightly stale (left outside the plastic bag for 1 day so it dries up) and then is up to your speed to take it out when is cooked without burning the edges. the amount of oil unfortunately needs to be enough so that the bread goes down and comes up. the perfect eggs are cooked into an old fashion iron pan (charity shop) put a little butter on the pan melt it and after few seconds that the butter is melted put the egg in it. put the flame up as much as possible and cover the pan. calculate exactly 1 minute, lower the flame at minimum and let cook the egg so that the yolk is of the consistence you like
Butter your bread, put it under the grill and you will have the same result as frying it but less fatty..
take it out butter the other side and let that do the same
as for eggs, a frying pan little oil, and a lid. put the pan on not letting it get too hot
put oil in, then put egg in, once it's gone white, put about 5-6 teaspoons of water in, put lid on, then take it off the heat, let it cook for a few mins and the eggs should be cooked with a runny yoke not white and youve saved your heart in one go
Something a lot of people seem to do is fry fried bread both sides.
It should only be fried on one side, the other should be untouched.
This gives you a contrast in texture, a less greasy piece and also the ability to mop up egg yolk and any juices with the un fried side.
I used to make "hole-in-one", "egg in the nest" , "toad in his hole", by using a glass to cut out a circle in the slice of bread. Butter both sides of the slice and place in a low to medium temp. skillet. Crack the egg and place in the hole. Cook one side and then flip. Using the toasting of the bread as your cooking gage. Can butter and cook the circle also and place on top of the egg. Peek-a-boo Effect !!! LOL !!!
The real key to cooking eggs is low to medium heat and taking your time.
HELLO AGAIN! IF YOU MEAN BREAD EGGS THIS IS WHAT YOU DO. TAKE A SLICE OF WHITE BREAD,A REG. SIZED GLASS. WITH THE GALSS OR CUP, PLACE IT ON THE CENTER OF THE SLICE OF BREAD AND PRESS DOWN. TAKE THAT PIECE OF BREAD YOU JUST CUT OUT. YOU WON'T NEED THAT. BUTTER BOTH SIDES OF THE BREAD PLACE IN A PAN WITH A LITTLE BUTTER IN THE OPEN HOLE. CRACK AN EGG IN THAT WHOLE. ADD SALT AND PEPPER IF YOU CHOOSE.FLIP AND COOK UNTILL THE EGG IS AS YOU LIKE IT BE IT RUNNY YOLK OR HARD. AND WAH-LA!
someone gave me a recipe for fried bread without frying ...it was delicious.grill some bacon then dip the bread in the hot bacon fat (both sides) and wrap in a paper towel and dab it lightly , then put the bread under a hot grill about a minute each side ..mmmmm!!!
this is called eggey Bread! whisk 2 eggs put in a bowl, put some oil or butter in a pan, 2 pieces of bread, dip into egg mixture both sides, and lightly cook on a medium heat. until golden brown UUUUMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!
