Anyone up for a recipe challenge?!

Question:

Anyone up for a recipe challenge?

My sister got what I think are bacon ends AND pieces. Now I am not sure what to do with them. I was thinking of using them to accent a CROCKPOT DISH. Maybe. Maybe not. Either way I am looking for any recipe ideas.

Use them to flavor pinto beans or green beans.

I saw someone put bacon pieces in cornbread on tv today yummm. You can maybe roll them up with some asparagus in some filo dough , if i even spelt that correctly. Then bake the asparagus in the oven.

You can make an omlette! , you can make a pizza bagel with bacon? lol have fun

potato salad

BAKED BEANS IN CROCK POT

2 (28 oz.) cans Bush baked beans
1 sm. onion, chopped
1/4 c. molasses
6 or 7 strips bacon, cooked crispy & crumbled
1/4 c. bacon grease
1/4 c. brown sugar

Mix all and put in crock pot on low for 2 to 3 hours.

OLD FASHIONED CROCK POT BAKED BEANS

2 c. navy beans
1 sm. onion
1/4 lb. bacon or salt pork
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1/4 c. ketchup
5 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. dark molasses
1 tsp. dry mustard

Wash and sort beans. Soak overnight. Cook in water until tender. Add ingredients all at once. Add more water, if needed. Cook 6 to 8 hours on low in crock pot.

These are fantastic for a simple pasta carbonara!

you will need:

your bacon pieces / ends
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 cup cream
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

cook some flat long pasta (eg. fetticine or similar).

fry the bacon in a little butter in a pan. add the cream and stir whilst still on the heat.
in a bowl mix one egg and only the yolk from the other egg. stir in the paprika and cheese.
take the bacon/cream mix off the heat and stir in the egg/cheese/paprika mix.
stir through your hot pasta.

sprinkle a little extra parmesan on top - serve with a fresh crisp green salad and crusty bread

this is DIVINE!

My Mother always used bacon ends in baked beans when I was a boy.

Use them for Spaghetti Carbonara

Chop them into bite sized pieces and cook til brown. Remove from pan, add a sliced or diced onion and cook in the drippings til soft, lower heat and cook til onion begins to brown. Add 1 cup chicken broth and return bacon to pan. Cook until sauce reduces to about 1/2. Toss with spaghetti or fettuccine. Top with grated Parmesan

Get some instant garlic or plain mashed potatoe and add the bacon to that. Very tasty! And a great comfort food when you need it!

YAY bacon! I use bacon in everything, really- Try adding it to some potato soup. Or try this- make some dough, and roll some cheddar cheese and cooked bacon into it. They make awesome 'sandwiches' for lunches, and stay good longer then you'd think. Good luck!

what's a whistle berry?
anyway...i make what i call "cabinet soup". basically, whatever is in the cabinet, throw it in. like this:
2 cans pinto beans
2 cans diced tomatoes
1 can chicken or vegetable stock
5 cups baby spinach
6 cloves of garlic, chopped
1 whole onion, chopped
1 whole pepper, chopped
some adobo
some hot pepper flakes
bacon (for flavor)
throw it all in a crock pot on low for 4 hours or so. turn on high and add some pasta or rice, finish cooking until pasta/rice is done. you may need to add a bit of water.

remove bacon or leave it in.
takes 10 min. to prepare. very filling!

Ill go a different route from most. You can try something a little healthy, but at the same time very flavorful.
You can saute spinach or bok choy (chinese vegetable). Just start with a hot pan and about half and half sesame oil and olive oil. Wait till pan gets hot. Add a ton of garlic. (Sorry i love garlic..of course u can add to ur liking) and stir for about a minute. When garlic is slightly browning throw in ur vegetable, saute for about a minute evenly then add about a teaspoon of soy sauce, teaspoon and a half of oyster sauce and about a tablespoon of mirin(sweet cooking wine) and the bacon scraps. Stir fry for about a minute or so. Then you are done. =)

This is a great macaroni salad with bacon.

1 small bag elbow maccaroni
1 medium red onion diced
1 small can diced black olives
1/2 to 1 lb bacon pcs fried crispy
4 tbs mayo or miracle whip
1 small tomatoe (optional)

Dice them and use them to season corn, green beans and other vegetables.
Just keep a bag of them in the freezer and add 3 or 4 pieces to the pan and cook a bit before adding the veggies.
Mom used to get the "ends & pieces" boxes for this all the time when I was a kid.
