How can u tell when real butter has gone bad?!

Question:

How can u tell when real butter has gone bad?

Answers:
A sour-bitter taste is identifiable with rancidity (i.e. soapy, baby-vomit, blue cheese).

Rancid butter becomes yellow to brown and the flavor becomes harsh.

USDA butter grades

- looks bad (pink or brownish colour), liquid forms
- Smells bad
- Tastes sour / salty

When you have toast crums and other food crums in it. HAHA

Honestly I have never had butter long enough to see it go bad. Sorry.

When it looks a bit sort of curdled and a deep yellow colour. When tasted it will taste rancid - you will know when it is off! Discard if you are not sure.

It depends on if it's in stick form or in a tub. If you have real butter in tub form, take a butter knife and carefully slice between the tub and the butter. Go all the way around the tub. If giant cockroches jump out, you know the butter is bad. For the stick, unwrap about a quarter of the stick. Place it close to your nose - if it smells like a dead monkey's colon, it's probably bad. Hope this helps!

ive never had butter go bad so i cant answer that id say it wont look like butter any more yeah what she said

Butter and oils will go rancid if exposed to light, heat or air. A taste test can always tell. If rancid, there is a sour smell in butter and the taste is strong and unusual.

if it smells rancid like when oil goes bad

By colour and smell. Fresh butter will have pleasant /Good smell and whitish. Ofcourse by tasting it you can confirm.
