Answers:
Well, this is not that silly.

If you use pork in lamb chop recipe then it'll be fine but the cooking time required will be different. Depending on the quality of the meat you have it'll take a more or less time to cook.
I think the best wat to know if a meat is done is that after it has been cooked for about 30-35 minutes, take a small piece and taste it. You'll know yourself the difference.

lamb chops are from lambs, and pork is a pig. they taste different and i believe they have a different texture.

Yes, they come from different animals.

Lamb has a very distinct taste, and is traditional in Irish stew.
You can use beef instead, but I highly recommend lamb.
The chops are less gamey than leg meat.

lamb chops are from sheep
pork is from pig

Two different animals. Lamb chops come from a lamb. Pork chops come from pigs.

I'm assuming that you know they're from different animals! That being said, the traditional ingredient in Irish stew is lamb, not pork.

If you prepare your stew with pork, it'll certainly be delicious, but it won't be "official" Irish stew....it'll be something else, in the STYLE of Irish stew.

Lamb has an entirely different taste and texture than pork.
If you are making Irish stew, you need the lamb.
Lamb has a stronger flavor and usually a higher fat content. Pork also takes longer to cook usually.

Lamb chops come from lamb and pork chops come from pig !!!!! The flavors are way different !!!!!

Actually mutton is used in Irish stew. Mutton is tougher than lamb. That is why it must be cooked for a longer time, hence the word stew. Cheers!
