Soaking oil off fries?!

Question:

Soaking oil off fries?

anybody got good mthods of soaking oil out of homemade deep fried chips/fries?thanks

Answers:
Just place freshly fried whatever in one layer on paper towels. the hot oil will drop right off.

use paper towels

As William has stated

Use Paper Towels

depending upon what you are cooking make sure oil is correct temperature - fried food is intended to seal quickly and a lot of people dont have the temp up high enough so the food just absorbs hot oil.

either way a few sheets of paper towel cover and shake,

Yes, leave the chips on a kitchen roll, it absorbs most of the oil.

Paper towels or a clean dishtowel also works well.

As the previous post states, I think the most common method is probably paper towels (kitchen towel, in the UK).

Another method I have seen used a lot in the southern states is paper bags (you know, the brown paper variety you get from grocery shopping).

That's about as much as I can offer....Good luck.

Crumpled paper towels, a wire strainer... Anything that elevates the chips allows the oil to drain off. Unfortunately, it's still going to have a pretty high fat content.

Try spraying thinly sliced potatoes with pam cooking spray, then baking until crisp. Works for me!

if your fried food is too greasy, make sure your oil is hot enough. test the oil with a single small fry. it should pop up to the top and immediately bubble all around... almost like sizzling. if it doesn't do this immediately, wait until the oil is hot enough to do this every time. drop them in, keep the temp up, then remove them to paper towels. keep the food in a single layer or the items on top will just drip onto the lower food.

Place them in a brown paper bag, salt to taste and lightly shake.

Use paper towels or a brown paper bag.

I take a colander and line it with a bunch of coffee filters and throw my hot fries in it to drain them...It is a tried and true method....

Do not use paper towels, use a brown bag, it works better.

I have a flat surface covered with a few layers of paper towels. I put the oil fries in there, and I kind of shake them around a little bit and quite a bit of the oil gets off of the fries. You don't want to move them around too much though because they can get a little soggy.
