line a oven proof dish with bramley apples (peeled cored and cubed) add a sppon of caster sugar over the top and then the crumble topping and bake.
It is SO easy...
* 4 cups sliced apples
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/2 cup water
* 1 cup white sugar
* 1/2 cup butter
* 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.
2. Place apples in prepared dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Pour water over all. In a bowl, cream together sugar and butter. Blend in flour. Sprinkle mixture evenly over apples.
3. Bake in preheated oven 30 to 40 minutes, until apples are tender and crust is golden.
I also like the recipes that call for oats. If you like, you can add in 1/4 tsp of nutmeg, some vanilla, or a squeeze of lemon juice. I also like to add in cranberries... I bought a huge bag of fresh cranberries, stuck them in the freezer, and add a handful when I make apple crisp.
This is the recipe that I love for apple crumble ... the topping is what really makes it great...and I have done it without the nuts, if I don't have them on hand!
Filling:
4 large Golden Delicious apples (about 3 pounds)
1/4 cup sugar
1 lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Topping:
1 cup walnuts or pecans, roughly chopped
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch fine salt
8 tablespoons (1 stick) cold butter, cut into small pieces
Position an oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F.
Peel, core, and slice apples into 1/4-inch slices. Place apples in a large mixing bowl and toss with sugar, lemon juice, flour, and cinnamon. Pour into a lightly greased 9 by 13-inch baking dish, and spread out into an even layer. Set aside.
In another large bowl, mix together the nuts, flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the topping. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, gently work in the cold butter until pea-sized lumps are formed.
Top apples evenly with mixture and bake until apples are bubbly and topping is golden brown, about 45 minutes, rotating once halfway through cooking.
Enjoy!
Grease a casserole dish with butter. Pour in two cans of apple pie filling. In a food processor, put 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1 cup rolled oats, 1/4 cup all purpose flour, about 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Blend all of this with 1/2 to 1 block softened butter. You can also put in walnuts, or pecans if desired. Blend all to a crumble consistency and spread on top. Bake until crispy brown at 350 degrees.
I don't know but sounds scrumdidlyumptious. ^_^
