Broccoli and Cheese?!

Question:

Broccoli and Cheese?

Right now Im hooked on Stouffers microwavable broccoli and cheese. But at $2 a box it can get expensive. What is an easy recipe that I can make. Steamed broccoli only.

Answers:
INGREDIENTS

8 cups fresh broccoli
1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 small onion, chopped
1 1/4 cups milk
salt and pepper to taste
4 cups shredded Swiss cheese
2 eggs, beaten

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Place broccoli in a steamer over 1 inch of boiling water, and cover. Cook until tender but still firm, about 2 to 6 minutes. Drain.

Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat and add flour; cook until bubbly. Stir in onion and gradually add milk, stirring well. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute.

Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper. Stir in cheese and eggs; mix well. Combine mixture with broccoli and transfer to a 9 x 13 inch casserole dish.

Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Steam your broccoli and pour melted cheese whiz on it, melt that in your microwave.

Add Cheese Whiz

we steam fresh broccoli and buy a jar of cheese whiz as it can be used for shells and cheese and other things.

you can make rice with steam broccoli and gravey.

add a cheese slice

Go easy on the cheese. A lot of saturated fat, and if processed cheese, trans fats. Trans fats in snacks did in my arteries.

Broccoli is very good for you, but eat other veggies, too.

melt 1T butter with 1 T flour in the bottom of heavy skillet. Cook on med low for a couple of minutes to get rid of floury taste. Add 1 cup milk and slightly increase heat. When it starts to add 1 - 2 cup(s) cheese, depending on how cheesy you want it. Stir until melted. Add a little salt and pepper and pour over cooked broccoli. Or you can place frozen broccoli in a casserole, top with cheese sauce and bake until broccoli heated through. Have fun experimenting!

Steam your Broccoli and then just sprinkle some grated Parmesan over it... mmm....
