i found this recipe on the back of a box, and then i changed it up a bit.

what you will need:
1lb ground beef
8 cups of canned chopped tomatoes [[finely chopped, [almost soupy] depending on how you want your sauce]]
basil
1-3/4 cups ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella
1/2 grated parmesan cheese
2 eggs
1/4 chopped fresh parsely
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
lasagna noodles
3 cloves garlic
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil [EVOO]

sauce: put EVOO at bottom of pan at medium-lo heat and chopped garlic in it until garlic turns golden brown. take garlic out with a spoon and put tomatoes in. simmer for 5 minutes, and then at basil to taste. brown ground beef in other pan and drain. add to sauce. put sause on low or turn off.

riccatta cheese: in bowl, stir together ricotta, one-half mozzarella, parmesan cheese, eggs, parsely, salt and pepper.

lasagna: [[follow cooking instructions for noodles]] heat oven to 350F. 1st layer: spread some sauce to the bottom of the pan so the COOKED noodles won't stick. add a layer of noodles. 2nd layer: add meat sauce [[will need sauce for the next 2 layers also]] and then cover with noodles. 3rd layer:[my family likes one thick layter of riccatta, so on this layer put all of it!]] add riccatta cheese and cover with meat sauce and noodles. 4th layer: add the rest of the meat sauce and top off wit hmozzarella cheese parmesan cheese. cover with foil bake 45 minutes. remove foil; bake additional 15 minutes, and then let stand 10-15 minutes before serving.

you may also add mushrooms to your sauce when you add the tomatoes.

First of all, get your list together for the grocery store - this is one dish where you'll need it. Get a couple of pounds of ground beef & 1 pound ground sausage. Also get lasagna noodles, fresh mushrooms, onion, garlic, a couple of jars of your favorite pasta sauce, cheeses. Get at least 4 - 5 types of shredded cheese, plus some parmesean and romano.....Boil noodles in large pot til tender, then rinse and drain. While noodles are boiling, brown meat in large skillet with chopped onion & garlic. Stir cooked meat into large bowl with jar sauce. In casserole dish, layer a tiny bit of meat, noodles, meat sauce, mushrooms, shredded cheese. Do at least 3 - 4 layers, finishing up with extra cheese. Bake @ 350 for about an hour, til top is bubbly.......I always serve with fresh tossed salad & homemade garlic bread!!
