How to freeze corn on the cob?
Answers:
I always plunge them into a pot of boiling water and when the water returns to they boil turn the heat off and timer on. I will let them say in hot water for 5 minutes and drain.
Cool and pat dry then put on a tray and place in freezer for about an hour.
I will then bag them up and leave until I need them.
throw it in the freezer.
get a big pot of water boiling and put the corn in for about two minutes.this is called blanching.that process will kill bacteria.next take it out of the pot with tongs and run cold water over it until almost cool and put in good freezer bags.make sure the air is out of the bags.good luck and happy eating!
If you want to keep it only 1 month or less- husk, wash, then package well and freeze as fast as possible.
If you want to hold it for more than a month- husk, wash, boil in steam or water for about 10 minutes, cool, dry, package as before and freeze as fast as possible.
After about 1 month the enzymes in the raw cob will start to effect the flavor of the corn. The boiling or blanching inactivates the enzymes enough to give you months of protection to off flavors. (most of those enzymes are at the center of the cob near where the kernels are attached so it is important that the heat from the boiling gets to that internal point.
