What is a simple way to cook collard greens?

I was thinking to just wash and boil them.

I love collard greens and they are very easy to cook, here is a recipe below:

COLLARD GREENS

3 smoked ham hocks
3-5 lbs collard greens, 2 lbs broccoli rabe, or mustard greens
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
salt and pepper to taste

Put ham hocks and garlic in a large soup pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer about 3 hours, replacing water as needed allowing water level to reduce a little as you go along.
When ham hocks begin to fall apart, separate the collard green leaves and rinse each carefully under cold running water.

Roll the leaves up and slice across into strips, or just rip the leaves from the stems and add to the pot - discard the heaviest stems, but don't be picky. As the collards are added gradually to the pot and they begin to wilt down, continue to add until all are used.

Season with the salt, then cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 30 minutes more over medium heat until the greens are tender.

Serve with hot sauce if desired, or a splash of balsamic vinegar, or drizzle with extra virgin olive oil.

NOTE: If you are making a boiled ham or smoked shoulder, you can reserve the liquid and reduce it and then make the collard greens using this recipe once the ham is removed.

A few strips of bacon, small amount of water= bring to a boil and put greens on top till done. GOOD !!!!

Just saute chopped onion on olive oil, add 1 garlic clove minced, and chopped fresh tomato. When is all combined add the greens and let it steam for maybe 20 minutes since they are a little hard, and season with salt and pepper. Eat this with white rice...MMMmmmmmmm so good!!!

To a large pot of water add a couple teaspoons of salt,and a medium size peice of hamhock.To substitute hamhock,use a few peices of cut ham(not lunchmeat). bring to a boil remove the ham,put to the side.add the greens, boil down maybe 15-20 minutes or so with the top of the pot off.once you have got them cooked,drain the rest of the water,there may be a little in the bottom left.if desired,use the ham that was boiled to take away the bitterness of the greens,by shredding it up and mixing in with the greens(you will see the reddish pink of the ham mixed with the greens.Southern style and DE---licious.

The healthiest way is to wash them well and place them in a deep saucepan with the water clinging to the leaves. Cover them and just steam them until they're tender. If you boil them in too much water, you boil the vitamins right out!
