Can I use baking powder instead of baking soda with a recipe?!

Question:

Can I use baking powder instead of baking soda with a recipe?

Answers:
No, you can't use baking powder instead of baking soda. If it was the other way around, you could. I've included the recipe for homemade baking powder, in case you ever need it.

Homemade Baking Powder:
2 tbsp. cream of tartar
1 tbsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. cornstarch

1 tsp of the homemade baking powder = 1 tsp of store bought baking powder

No two ways about it, though, there is no substitute for baking soda.

no they are totally different things

I wouldnt suggest it. They have different compounds and are meant to do two completley different things. and baking soda is composed of more salt.

No, you can't.

it would depend on what it is used for in the recipe ....if for just a leavening agent ...it can be subed...as well as eggs are used for leavening agents...

No

No, they are two different things that serve two different purposes.

Uh, no!

well, it depends. baking powder makes it rise with no flavor while baking soda rises it with a wierd tasting flavor. tried it before! like i said it depends on what your making. if I were you I'd go with the recipe like it says.

yes you can use baking powder
