Answers:
Hi. Margherita pizza is named after Queen Margherita, wife of Italy's King Umberto I. This classic has the simple, yet highly flavorful combination of fresh basil and tomatoes.
Here's the recipe-
For the base:
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 cup warm water (between 95° and 115° F.)
2 teaspoons yeast
1 tablespoon sugar/ honey.
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 tsp. salt
Directions:
1. Mix the yeast in lukewarm water alongwith the sugar/ honey. Let it sit in a warm place for 15 minutes or till it froths.
2. Add the flour into a mixing bowl and make a well in the centre.
3. Add the yeast mixture, salt, olive oil to the flour.
4. Knead till you get a smooth and elastic dough.
5. Set in a warm place to rise for 30 -45 minutes. It should double in volume.
6. Punch and knead the dough to get all the air out and keep it for another 30- 45 minutes.
7. Roll out dough into 8 - 10 inch wides on a well floured board.
For the topping:
Ingredients:
6 ounces grated mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup olive oil.
3-4 teaspoons fresh basil- chopped.
Herbs - oregano, sage, etc if desired.
Salt and red paprika, to taste.
4-5 fresh Roma or Italian tomatoes, thinly sliced
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 500° F.
2. Brush the rolled out dough evenly with olive oil.
3. Spread mozzarella cheese on pizza leaving a 1/2 border on the sides.
4. Top with tomato slices and herbs -basil, oregano, sage.
5. Add seasonings - salt and paprika if desired.
6. Bake pizza for 10 to 15 minutes or until crust is lightly browned.
7. Remove pizza and let cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before slicing.
Enjoy!
Best of luck with your project.
Pizza Margherita
(Naples)
1 recipe Basic Pizza Dough
Extra virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
1 1/4 pounds ripe tomatoes, peeled, seeded, chopped, and drained in a strainer for 1 hour
3/4
pound fresh mozzarella cheese (buffalo milk, if possible), diced
10 fresh basil leaves
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1. Prepare the pizza dough. Divide the dough into two balls and let rise as instructed.
2. Preheat the oven to 555 degrees F with a large baking stone and let it stay at that temperature for 30 minutes.
3. Roll or stretch the dough out until 16 inches in diameter using either a rolling pin on a lightly floured work surface or by rotating the pizza while it's draped over your fist until about 1/3 inch thick. Place each crust on a 16-inch solid pizza pan or the baking stone sprinkled with cornmeal to prevent sticking or use a 16-inch perforated pizza pan, making sure the border of the dough is a little high than the center. Make indentations all over the pizza with your fingertips and grease the top, including the borders, with olive oil. Sprinkle the Parmesan evenly over the two pizzas, leaving a 1-inch border all around, then evenly distribute the tomatoes and mozzarella. Lay the basil leaves over the top and oil the top again. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Bake until the borders are charred in places and the top is dappled brown in certain places on the cheese, 8 to 9 minutes. Remove from the oven, let cool a minute or two, cut each pizza into 16 slices with a wheeled pizza pie cutter, and serve.
Makes two 16-inch pizzas, each yielding 16 slices
take a bread pour tomato sauce on the bread cut some slices of onions or something and you spread on it keep in oven for 16 min and burn to 180 degree it will be the pizza
