get out of the kitchen quiiiiick!!!!

olny joking, its perfecly safe!t was the oven hot when you started? they take about 10 men to heat up sometimes

Oven-Roasted Sweet Potatoes

7 cups sweet potatoes, scrubbed, cut in 1-inch cubes
1 tablespoon olive oil
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
4 cups coarsely chopped onions
1 tablespoon butter, melted

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Place the sweet potatoes in a shallow roasting pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Drizzle with the oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper; toss well to coat.

Place in preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes.
Add the onions; stirring well. Bake an additional 30 minutes; remove from oven.

Preheat broiler.

Drizzle the sweet potato mixture with melted butter; stirring to coat.

Broil 10 minutes or until browned.

For this batch, just keep an eye on them. I roast my potatoes (white or red) by tossing them with oil before putting them on the pan. When they're about 1/2 way done, I flip them so they're browned all over. When done, you can season them with salt and cinnamon sugar, or even a curry salt - for a change from the ordinary salt and pepper. (I add garlic and rosemary when tossing in the oil when making roasted white pots.)

i know you are already have them in the oven but here is recipe i use:

Cinnamon Roasted Sweet Potatoes
INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 pinch freshly ground pepper
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Pour the oil into a 9x13 inch baking dish, and place in the oven until hot, about 5 minutes.
Add potatoes to the oiled dish, and bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven, turning after 10 minutes. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
After the 20 minutes is up, remove the potatoes from the oven, and sprinkle with the brown sugar mixture. Stir to coat. Return to the oven, and roast for another 10 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and golden brown. Stir potatoes as necessary to allow them to brown evenly.
Remove potatoes to paper towels to drain, then transfer to a serving dish, and sprinkle with lime juice.

You may want to turn the oven up to at least 325 if you want them to cook, 200 degrees is a little low.

Boil them until you can scrape a pattern in the surface of the potatoes. When ready, drain and shake until outside of potatoes are fluffy. Put some goose fat - preferable (or any fat if not got) into a roasting tin, put potatoes in and spoon fat over. Roast until browned. When cooked take out of tin and sprinkle with rock salt. You'll love them!

Part boil them for 10 mins, making shure that each sweet spud is the size of a normal roast spud.

put a flew glugs of cooking oil, pref ground nut or sunflower or veg oil, roast in hot oven 200-220 for 15 mins

turn them

roast another 15 mins

take the excess oil out

and let them roast for another 20 mins turning them halfway through the cooking time

if they start going black on the edges they are ready and they will be really caramelised and sweet

hope this helps

p.s. just keep all roasted veg simple as they taste fantastic if cooked siply

and

P.P.S

you only part boil sweet spuds and normal spuds marris piper are the best for that as well for chips, and you can cut marris pipers into chips part boil them, roast them and you will have less fattier chips then deep fried ones, as well they are so chrispy they are heavenly

have fun

I roast sweet potatoes the same way as white potatoes -- 350 degree oven, one hour, prick with fork.

As it starts getting roasted, it will change colour. (It will get caramelized) Have patience.

I think you may have too much oil. If it will pour off your tray then you definately have too much.

You need a tempertaure of 350 degrees F, for about an hour.

Don't panic, sometimes they take ages the first time i made them i thought i was going to wreck them. For future reference just coat them in oil, they'll never brown if there's too much. Also.....when you have mastered roasting them.......try coating them in a soy sauce and honey marinade...(50 ml of dark soy 25 ml of light, 1 tbsp of honey or golden syrup, mix well, coat then roast) and servring them with chinese style chicken, pork or duck breast YUM

Best thing to do is wash them and cut into wedges; then put in a baking tray & drizzle with olive oil; then put them in the oven at 180c. Keep an eye on them & turn regularly.

just buy them and roast them! ull find them with all the potatoes called sweet potatoes !
